Here is a copy of the EDDM card I sent out. Taken with cell phone so a bit grainy. Sent on glossy. Any thoughts are welcome.

If you are saying that the card did not work for you then it is time to change the card around and only send out like 50 or 100 to see if you get a response, you just have to test them and keep on testing them until you get a great response, sometimes you have to change a lot.

I have been told by marketers that you should show the card to strangers, not friends or family because they will tell you what you want to hear where a stranger will tell you if the card would get them interested to call or not. You want to know what the card will do because if it does not make anyone interested in calling at all then there is no reason to have thousands of them made and sent out.

I remember, it is because of you I have these cards to send out. It is slow right now now, but my phone has been ringing more than in recent times.

Im glad that I could help!

on the card it says $2.50 for every extra 10 feet, is that 10 sq feet, or is it 10 linear ft? What if someone has a driveway only wide for one car then someone else has one for three or more cars wide?

Umm, I was thinking 10 square feet. Most consumers I have talked to think of area, not length.

I actually did print a color copy before printing and did show it to about 15 people that didn't know what I had, or that I did pressure washing. I took the card back out of their hands after 5-8 seconds and asked them what was the card about. 10 of the 15 told me washing their driveway and walk ways. The other 5 didn't know what to think it was, and wasn't even aware there was such a thing. I got 2 calls complimenting the card from other business owner unrelated to PW. They wanted to know where I got the card done at and printed. Unfortunately they were not interested in having their driveway cleaned.

This is my first season getting out. I have a full time job so hitting the bricks would be tough. I priced having door hangers done vs the mailers. I thought from reading on the forums mailers did better than door hangers, and they cost less.

Where did I send them? 2 times to the same address. Neighborhoods were mostly wood and vinyl siding. Middle class. Avg home price, and in an area that has the lowest un-employment. Average age 45-55, married with 2 family incomes. Education was some college or higher.

Maybe Birmingham folks don't respond to mailers so well, maybe it is still too cold to thinking about washing, maybe I need to go try some small commercial instead. Maybe I should try a few more rounds before giving up on the neighborhoods. I have a 1000 left to send to find out.

Maybe I should change the card up some. Winter is almost officially over, so I need to come up with a Spring card. Suggestions on how to change this up for spring I am all eyes. I was going to keep the same colors, change the pictures, text and the special to house wash any size $50.00. (only kidding, I don't want to loose money on this)

A lot of pro's say that people need to see/hear your message from 7 to 9 times before they make a decision, if they are ready or something like that from what I remember.

Unless the card was designed by a professional marketer, I would think that you might not get responses after 1 or 2 mailings but sometimes people do get lucky.

I would send more out to the same 50 or 100 addresses until you hit them at least 7 times and see if you get any calls, if no calls then time to re-design the card with a good call to action. If you do get calls then after the 7th or 9th time, move on to another bunch of addresses.

Sometimes you have to just keep on trying things until you get results like they say.

Good luck.

It will depend on the number in the routes
I am dropping off my first batch of EDDM postcards at the post office tomorrow.

My first run will be just over 1000 addresses. Does anybody know if I need to count the cards before I drop them off, or does the post office have a machine that will count them for you?

Keenan Pls call next time you use a Printer, the printer can do all the route for you actually cheaper than you can sort by hand. If your printer is not consider paying a bit more to say hundreds with a printer who will give them to you ready to deliver. CODES and all on them

Curious to hear of your results. I'm putting together a eddm campaign currently for Spring. 2500 - 5000 pcs a week.

My first batch I did not get a good return, however recently I sent out a batch (sent 3/10/13) which a subdivision that has a March 31 deadline to get their homes clean or face a fine. I received a tidbit of info about that from the clerk at the pool store I get my SH at. The clerk said her subdivision is neglected by other PWers and they face a deadline to get their stuff clean.

Guys, you have to be patient. I get calls off a mailing months down the road. I get calls in the Spring from my Fall mailings. You will get more calls in another week or two and by July you will be rockin'. People will do business with the company they see the most. If your competitor is mailing 3 times a month you need to do 4. That is of course if your ad is good as theirs is. I do want to see that piece by A and J!

That is my next project, work on a postcard mailer to send out, I have pictures that I will be using but not sure of the marketing message to put on the cards.
