Pushing $200K "ONE MAN CREW"

Rusty,
Here we go again. No one is doing 3 jobs a day 5 days a week, with out help.It is possible to do 3 a day but no one could keep up that pace alone.Especially in Wyoming.Single man jobs are small they have to be.350 is a lot for a one man job.
You may have accounts that pay 1000 to 4000 per cleaning but they aren't one man jobs!

Maybe Mickey isn't on Rusty's list on purpose. That way it looks like he has an allie outside his "network".I could be wrong but you have to ask yourself why would someone start such a thread in the first place?
Why would someone stop selling cars at 3,000.00 over invoice to clean grease?
Everyone else beleive what you want,I'll sign off with some good Wyoming lingo - THAT DOG DON'T HUNT!

John, I think you have Mikey all wrong. Here are a couple of posts where he talks about training guys for free. I am pretty sure that this would some kind of legal issue were he involved with Rusty. It seems to me that he is just a generally nice guy that is very appreciative of the help others have given him, check through his threads on the board and you will see.

John, I think Matts right.I like a spirited debate as much as anyone else, but the Rusty/Mikey conspiracy theory is wrong, and you could see that if you have been following this bbs over the years.Pressure washing caught my attention years ago,and really caught my attention one night when I stopped by a Walmart one night about 7 years ago in the Poconos and seen a guy doing flatwork there cleaning the sidewalks, with a real nice rig and he seemed like he enjoyed himself.Italked to him and he invited me to his house to talk about starting a hood cleaning business,he was looking for someone to run the hood end as a lead guy. This guy was making the kind of money Mikey is talking about, working by himself, doing alot of Burger kings, and Walmarts.Although we didn't do anything together,I came away with an impression of someone who loved his work and was making a nice living, and he had about a $400,000 to $500,00 house (my estimate). At the time I owned a restaurant in NJ that was grossing about $8000 a week with a nice profit and I hated it,the restaurant business sucks,I know I owned 2 of them, both made money, and I made great money selling them, but it was 7 days a week 15 hours a day,and on a busy friday or Saturday night I could take in $3000,but it sucked.I also sold cars at a high pressure dealership where they sold cars for more than $3000 over sticker sometimes.I worked from 9AM to 9pm six days a week, and made $1400 my first week,I was 19 and out of college for the summer.I was psyched,I loved it at first, but then it became a grind, and some weeks you made s#%#,car dealerships churn through so many sales people it is hard to go to a dealer and see the same faces you seen a year before. The ups and downs in the car sales business is hard to build a life around. The bottom line is Mikey found something that he loves to do,and obviously most on this board do or they would not be doing it or posting about it on bbs's in their spare time. It's not always about the money, being happy and enthused about what you do is priceless, and that's what I see when Mikey posts. As far as income,I would love to make half of what Mikey makes and live in a beautiful place like Wyoming,I just don't think I could convince the little woman to move there, she's bugging me to move to a warmer climate, but I won't live anywhere where I am more than a half hour from a trout stream!

As I said maybe I'm wrong about the Mickey/Rusty thing.
I stand by my doubts about the amount of revenue that can be generated by a one man crew.I don't beleive Rusty's or Mickey's numbers!

Matt, my lawyers at HOWE,CHEATUM AND DEWEY, said all is legal just as long as I have my trainees sign the 345 page disclaimer form. FUNNY A?

Forgot, I have no Connections with Rusty other than buying a couple of items from him. Spoke with him several times. He seems to be on the ball….

John, Bahrs Landing looks like a nice place! I lived in Branford, CT for short time.

You don’t get in this kind of shape selling cars, and I learned to eat a lot better if you know what I mean.

How many employees and rigs do you run.I remember in one of your posts you spoke of atleast one crew with 2 men beside yourself. One other thing, you said in one of your posts that your online to do $600,000 this year. What things did you do to double your gross sales .I'm not questioning your numbers,I'm just wondering about the breakdown,as far as how many crews, and successful strategies for doubling your sales.
Do these figures include all the Burger Kings in Mississippi for 2004,or is that something you acquired in 2005.
Jim

John B. $300,000 last year to $600,000 this year. What was the biggest thing that you think helped you double your sales. That is an incredible increase, how many crews do you run,and do you have a full time salesman?

Mikey,
Maybe you should take some qoutes from pinnochio.

Does it really matter? If Mikey is doing well than thats great, the only one that will know for sure is Mikey. There are alot of us on this board that do as well and better, and have never posted how much we make  .

at 19 years old i pulled around ice blocks (90-120 lbs) for shrimp boats- 95+ degree Louisiana heat- 109 hours in one work week. some people just have a higher tolerance for pain.... i dunno why you would call out a grown man about his aspirations or accomplishments when he is sharing them with others?? if you think he is a liar why not just move along?

When a person is standing there saying it can't be done, he's usually being passed by someone doing it.

7-10 jobs a week is more the pace of a one man crew who is satisfied with what he's got.

10-15 jobs a week is the pace of a person who is NOT satisfied with what he's got.

Is it done all the time, NO. Can it be done, absolutely.

16 - 18 jobs per week from a properly trained multi man crew with the assistance of properly trained schedulers setting the stage for some knock your socks off performances.

What is the big debate? A go getter can accomplish alot if they want to. Some people are driven, and some need to be driven. Many people need their 8 hours and weekends off, while others like me want to work 16 hour days, and get things done.

What is the profit per crew member, owner, secretary, salesmen, insurance, taxes etc with this 18 jobs per week crew.

Seems like the owner, still makes about $100K profit, no matter how many crews that he has.

The Headache Factor kicks in and it doesn't matter how many crews that you have cranking out the cleanings.

We do FEW jobs per week (in comparison to others) but our percentage of PROFIT per job is 82-90%. So we can afford to do fewer jobs per week, while still maintaining a VERY high profitablity.

You throw in extra services and you can bump your profit per job up to 300 to $400 per job.

Some prefer multi-crews, some prefer 1 man crews, but the bottom line is choice and personality.

It doesn't matter to me if our students divide kill conquer the entire planet, or just be satisfied with their little piece of the pie.

That is a major focus of our school. Realize your limitations and learn to live within those limits. Know what you can do, and what you can't do.

I was on the phone yesterday with Terry (New Mexico) and he went through our school November of last year.

He's up to $60,000 profit his first year (not gross receipts, but profit). That's a pretty decent wage for cleaning 5 -10 hoods a week.
