Mikey,
It frightens me what you could have done in the corporate world. Move over Donald Trump!
Richard

Just shows ya-with a two man crew you could be at $275-I just had to say it-sorry-guys.

Way to go MIKEY!

I don't believe it! Do the math.200,00.00 devided by 52 equals 3,846.15 per week.3846devided by 5 is 769.20 per day. That's no vacations,no break downs, no lost time for bad weather(I'm sure you have at least a few snow days in WY)You can't do that amount every day with 1 man in NewJersey where every thing is on the same street.I know I formerly was a 1 man op for 4 years. In wyoming things must be so far apart there is no way you could ever convince me these numbers are true even with 2 guys.
I bet this is a planted story from the 1 man crew proponents.

Another way to look at it: there are 365 days a year. Take off 2 weeks vacation that's 351 days to work. Take off Saturdays, if you choose that's 52 saturdays a year - you are already off for vaction 2 of those, leaving 50 saturdays off from 351 days or 300 days (to round it off) of work. Averaging $600 a day for 300 days and you're at $180,000 or closing in on $200 thousand. I actually believe that Mikey works 7 days a week when necessary to make his nut so he doesn't have to work so hard.

It gets even better - consider that Wyoming has no state income tax, which when added to the new sales tax write-off freebie it results in fantastic bottom-line profit. In addition to all this Mikey gets to live in the state with the lowest population in the U.S. - the metro area in which I live (Denver 2 1/2 million) has approx 5 times the population as the entire STATE of Wyoming! I'm thinking about moving and giving Mikey some real competition.

Richard, Now if you go north to help out Mikey, thats gonna create a real vacuum, which might pull me north. You know how those high pressure/ low pressure things work. I might end up again in CO not knowing how I got there. Please warn me first so I can set my anchor. LOL

Michael,

I'm warning you - toss out the anchor. You don't realize what a good deal you have -Texas also has no state income tax. Now if only Texas would do away with their horrendous property tax...................

I was told to avoid the business all together because of the rejection. People would say to me, 'Don't you want to have a normal job and a normal family?' I guess that would be good advice for some people, but I wanted to act.Jennifer Aniston
Hey, you guys that say it cant be done call or come out and visit me. If it can be done here it can be done anywhere. Ill tell you that all my jobs are not in Wyoming, and I don’t work that many days!!!! or hours. The work of the individual still remains the spark that moves mankind ahead even more than teamwork.

Its not just the money, I have been concentrating on building a business, the money is the gage. I have taken all the information that I have learned and modified all aspects of it. From sales to time management.
One to five man crews don’t matter to me. I love to do this, type of stuff. I get really excited whether its kitchen exhaust cleaning or selling other services. If money is your hope for independence you will never have it. The only real security that a man will have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability.

Mikey,
Maybe you should take some qoutes from pinnochio.

If you want to share some criticism like that, you can post them on the Mindless Blabbering board.

I'll tell you one thing, whether Mikeys figures are right or not,and I have no reason to think he his not telling the truth.Remember he said "pushing $200k".One thing that Mikey has is a positive attitude and a love for his work which is "Priceless" in this day and age of criticism and negativity(No disrespect to you John,I grew up in Jersey, and I know a little "ball breaking" is in our blood!).Mikey sounds like he has a nice business for himself, and lives in a beautiful state like Wyoming to boot.I like to read his posts since they are usually positive and full of enthusiasm, which I personally love to see in a person. As far as his quotes from famous people,I am a personal developement junkie, and have a huge library I read and listen to tape courses all day, especially when I am driving, and it does motivate you ,and helps immunize your outlook on life from the naysayers and doom and gloom people that you have to deal with all the time.Good Job Mikey and I hope you have a better year this year, and no matter what don't lose that positive attitude.
Jim

But adjusted for inflation, that's about $ 75k in Wyoming dollars! :)Just kidding, with the type of work you specialize in Matt,$300k for a busy two man crew seems very attainable in SoCal.
Jim

Matt,

I am not sure you are correct in assuming your prices are higher than Mikey's. I recall his post in respect to pricing and I think you will be surprised - I'll let him comment if he so desires. I think it may in part be due to the tremendous competition you face added to the proliferation of cleaners as a result of the large number of 'schools' and other trainers who advocate a low-ball discount approach to develop clientele - I know it is so in my area. It's a tough world.

Richard

Setting prices is more art than science. Set your prices too high, and you scare customers away. Set your prices too low, and you lose money. Amazingly, business owners still set prices the old-fashioned way--by charging the same as the guy down the street. I have my own formula just as you might, I focus on two metrics--sales and net profits--to gauge my business success. Gross margin, the ratio of gross profit to sales revenue my gross margin is 68 percent. Just surrendering a flat rate or fixed time to execute a job might not always insure I make enough to cover all expenses. So we have an agreement with are customers that if completed job beyond there expectation based on previous cleanings they will pay more, if not they pay less and more often I have been offered more than the agreed price. Not one has offered to pay Less. although I have been low balled a few times, I prove to them if I get the job that our price is justified. Our customer satisfaction stands at almost 100 percent.
Plus accounts vary by a lot of factors, how often, how many, how they pay etc.
Note:
For the minor majority that say not possible, why is it that other companies can go were others seem that economics are causing business to be bad.Or why was it when I sold new Cars & trucks, that some would sell a car for $100 over invoice and I got $3000 over invoice. For example when I started here I met with the competition and they said it was very slow and paid to little and started doing other things to supplement there income.
(Attitude my friends)
Bottom line:
But more than anything you’ll find and most of you will agree, that it always comes down to you and the way you perceive things!!! (the attitude you have will reflect your outcome.) This is my quote

Mikey,
I agree it is all about your attitude and how you present yourself and the work you provide.
