Can Individual Freedom return to this country?

Really........ I would like to see more Dui , drug , insurance and illegals checkpoints! Have you ever had to retrieve a dead family of 3 from a car wreck? Or just one person.......? In all the wrecks but one that I have worked where someone was killed it was because of drinking, drugs or a illegal(drunk) 80 % of injury wrecks after 9pm i have worked is from drinking, drugs illegals and have no insurance....... I have no tolerance for drinking and driving, drugs, illegals and people that dont have insurance !!!!!! When you guys put down cops I laugh........is all cops perfect hell no. For the 98% that are I have no problem showing id and going along with a check point. I hope you all don't ever have to put a family member in the ground from a drunk, pill head, or illegal. If you do???? Wonder if this wont flash through your head.......where were the dui check points that night or the asshole cops. Why did it happen to my loved one !!! Dont worry though.....the lazy ass fireman will retrieve your loved ones from the car with much respect and go back to the station and be lazy again till the next call.

You have a perfectly good answer Lou, right in front of you. It's called consequences.

Insurance? Really? You really think our forefathers would have approved of the government forcing us to buy something from a private business for events that "may" happen in the future?

The answer to no insurance is CONSEQUENCES. The citizen who has no insurance, but no wreck has committed NO crime! He has hurt NO ONE. But, if he does not have the money or insurance to cover the costs and he DOES have an accident there should be severe consequences. It's really simple. Compensation and punishment is spelled out in all it's beautiful glory in the laws given to the Israelites in the old testament. Using them as guidelines anyone can figure out CONSEQUENCES.

Same thing for the DRUNK. In my youth I called in at least four drunks that I saw on the road. Were they drunk? Were they having a seizure? I don't know. All I know was they were exhibiting dangerous behavior that was reckless and had no regard for others. Who knows how many thousands I've seen who were drunk that I don't know about because their driving appeared fine. If a life is lost because of a drunk driver, then there is a simple answer for that. It's called the death penalty. Drunk driving doesn't cause "accidents". Drunk driving causes murders.

If we executed 20 drunks who killed someone in a crash a month, I'd bet the drunk driving rate would go way down.

Very easily taken care of without having to harass the innocent.

I agree with you. I've had to tell a family this bad news. I had to look in to the eyes of a wife and two little girls and tell them there daddy of only 34years old was not coming home. Because someone did not do there job and make a check. I'm not an officer nor was I the drunk driver/drug user. i will not release the info of why I had to tell this family what happen to there father/husband. I just know it's a hard thing to do.

As Lou said above Not all cops are perfect but there are allot of them out there that want to help and try to help. In almost every case of dealing with someone you has done something wrong, They will refuse to show ID they will refuse to have there car checked. If a cop pulls you over and you have to tell him you refuse to allow him to check your ID or you refuse to allow him to check your car. That is your right. I'm not saying it's not. But i feel if your pulled over for what ever reason, Check points, You matches the description of a stolen car/truck. ect ect. Why not just show your ID get it over with? The officer is not saying your guilty. He just needs to make sure your not the person he is looking for. If you still refuse to work with the cop and you feel that your being treated unfair, Then state you want your lawyer before he proceeds
any more. Then you can pay your lawyer $200 an hour to fight a case that could have been avoid just buy taking 5min and showing your ID. Rather than several hours of lawyer fees and time out of your day.

Good points. I don't like drunk driving just as much as the next guy. If they kill someone they should be treated the same as someone who planed the murder out them self. Because they know that if there drinking and are drunk they can kill someone and they do it anyways. This i agree with. I agree with having insurance, But i don't agree with having to pay for it even if i don't have a accident. This is just my view.

Checkpoints like you just described were one of the triggers for the American Revolution.

Thousands died to keep the innocent from being subjected to tyranny.

What would you tell their parents?

This is NOT directed at anyone in particular, but anyone that believes a checkpoint (of any kind) is good obviously believes that having rights is bad.

Our rights come first and foremost. Ignorant people don't know what their rights are and must rely on other people to tell them what they are.

If you don't know what your rights are or if your rights are being violated, ask yourself these simple questions.

* Did I harm someone?

* Did I damage someones property?

* Did I dishonor a contract of some sort?

If you can answer these questions with a 'No' then you have not violated anyone's rights.

If you are being "detained" against your will, then your rights are being violated. Detaining someone without cause is a Tort (an injury). You are being injured because your time and freedom are valuable to you (are they not?).

Licenses (of any sort) replace your rights with benefits and privileges (yes, you waive your rights). When you acquire a "Drivers License" you waive any and all rights to travel freely. You essentially have agreed to accept the terms of their [adhesion] contract. When you dishonor that contract, you have violated 'their' (corporate) rights.

Two points that were mentioned I feel I must address.

The first is Constitutional rights. We have no Constitutional rights, in fact there is no such thing as Constitutional rights. Anyone that believes they have Constitutional rights has never read the Constitution. The Constitution is a document that "limits" what the government (as a whole) can and can not do. Anything outside those boundaries is "unconstitutional".

The second is the "Miranda rights", again, this is not accurate. The Miranda Warning is a short list reminding you of your rights (the ones you have before, during and after any encounter), it does not convey any rights what-so-ever. Do you not have the right to be silent anytime you wish? Do you not have the right to consult with an attorney anytime you like?

Back to the "Drivers License". When you voluntarily accepts this contract (and it is a contract) you accept all the terms and conditions of said contract, which are codified in your State statutes. You are obligated to abide by everything associated with that contract. We can't change their rules which we agreed to abide by, but we can dispense with the contract. Warning, this is not recommended for the faint of heart or anyone that does not truly understand what is involved.

We as contractors operate under "contract law"... what's in the contract makes the law. The government cannot interfere with our contracts, unless, of course, you waive that right by accepting one of THEIR contracts.

In closing, the Supreme Court has opined that any stop is an arrest (by detainment). If you are detained, you are under arrest... period. What the Popo are doing, is investigating to see if they can make anything "stick". They have no warrant, they have no evidence, they don't have squat! They want you to fall into their trap so they will look good to their handlers.

I have had several very interesting discussions with Deputies in the past and on one occasion I informed the Deputy he was committing a 'felony trespass' on my property. He smiled and said "because I'm wearing a gun?". I said "yep". He knew damn well he was committing a crime (a felony!!) in my presence, and had no compunction about his actions.

Most of the seasoned officers know exactly what they are doing, they've been around long enough to learn through experience. The newer young officers are just believing they have the "right" to do as they damn well please (because their sarge told them so).

If you don't know what your rights are, then you have none. Keep that in mind.

I dont drink and havent for a long time. again i agree that drinking and driving is not good.

Just think about the word checkpoint

I ask, do you believe that it is ok for them to stop you to check and see if you have a license, insurance and registration ?

My answer to that is yes becuase by law your are supposed to have those credentials on you at all time and they must be current.

How about squads to come into your home to demand shot records for your children?

Or random house searches to make sure all your handguns are legally registered?

Or checkpoints and blood drawing at ballgames to make sure you are not breaking any public intoxication laws, even if you are sober as a judge.

These are all unlawful activities.

How is randomly asking for "required" documents any different from randomly grabbing your grandma at a ballgame to submit to a blood test to prove her innocence?

We live in different times so different rules apply. Check pionts save lives and do no harm to the innocent. If taking 3 minutes of your time is considered detaining you and taking away your rights then you need to loosen up a bit to see the bigger picture. Again if you are doing nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about.

I would agree with you if those actually happened but they dont and never will. But a car stop to check and see if your drinking and driving is something that happens and again if you are not drunk or doing anything wrong then you have no worries.

I don't drink so I have no worries but you are giving up your freedom to travel. The Russians and Nazis stopped people to check their papers and the Russians probablly still do. It all starts with a simple insignifican freedom given away and snowballs from there. If you give an inch they will take a mile. They would have better luck catching drunk drivers by following cars that pull out of bar parking lots instead of harassing innocent people. There is always a better mouse trap.

One time a friend and I followed a drunk on I5 through Seattle weaving all over the place (3 lands he weaved between) with speeds from 35 mph to 90 mph and not a cop in sight. This was before cell phones so we got his plate and when we spotted a cop with someone pulled over we stopped and told him and gave him the plate number. We had stayed behind this guy with my flashers on and warned people coming up behind us.

Giving up individual liberties will turn this country into a police state.

If you look throughout history, great nations have ALL failed and fallen. We are heading in that direction quickly. It seems that many do not know history and are doomed to repeat it.

What was the pastor doing wrong?

I didn't watch the video but I am assuming he did nothing and the cop was wrong. They have been doing check pionts for a long time now and they do get drunks off the road. I am more than fine with that and I don't feel as if I'm giving up my privaledge to drive. Yes privaledge not freedom or right.
