Can Individual Freedom return to this country?

I think that DUI check points are a very good thing. I have had friends and family members that have been hit by drunk drivers and one was killed getting his body cut into thee parts. I could not imagine how many idiots would be driving around drunk if they where not afraid of getting arrested, just imagine if those people that get killed every DAY was your daughter, I'm sure the story would be different. I can say if my kids where ever hit and killed by someone drinking and driving that person would be begging that they would have died.

When people do stupid ass videos like that I t really makes me mad, yes I agree there are SOME police officers that think they can ride high in the sky and are way better than anyone else, but not all police officers are that way

You just dont get it. I agree that drinking and driving do not mix. the outcome from doing it can be awful as you have experienced. but you think its ok to let ANYONE violate your constitutional rights as an american? not me. the president swears under oath that he will uphold the constitution to the best of his ability.
 
Here is the cure for all the drunk driving Matthew:

Take all the cops that are standing on the corner trying to entrap men with hookers,
All the cops pulling people over with expired or no plates,
All the cops hiding behind trees and pulling people over for travelling at safe speeds that happen to be over the speed limit,
All the cops in the entire drug "war on citizens",
And all the other various ways they prey on citizens who have hurt no one

AND

Put them all to work solving murders, rapes, real assaults, robberies, burglaries and other real crimes

THEN there would be plenty of them left to drive around and notice those nutcases swerving all over the road.

And innocent citizens would not have to be interrogated or detained.
 
Matthew no one is for drunk driving. The fact of reality is more are killed and we are less safe because of relinquishing our right to travel. Understand this is my sincere belief. We could put a breathalyzer in every car, a camera in every home, a chip in everyones head and on and on and on, and all justified by saving lives etc. The fact is it is not lawful for the police to do this - end of story. Also, I already have to live with incompetent and drunk drivers, never should one be punished by the 'authorities' for what someone else does! Drunk drivers that injure, threaten or kill should receive exactly the justice they deserve. Freedom goes with responsibility.

I posted this in the hopes that some of the people who live their lives just saying "It is what it is" and feel we don't have any power to regain freedom would see that freedom is in their grasp, they only need to desire it, and do what it takes to regain it.

  • I desire to exercise all my rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State, to be free from your interference with my person or affairs.
  • If you attempt to question me, I want my lawyer present. I refuse to participate in any line-up or to perform any physical acts, or to speak or display my person or property at your direction, without first conferring with my lawyer.
  • If I am under arrest, I wish to invoke and exercise my Miranda rights. If you ignore my exercise of these rights and attempt to procure a waiver, I want to confer with my lawyer prior to any conversations with you.

We advise our clients to hand this card to the officer along with their license when stopped or contacted by police. However, drivers need not even present their license during the initial contact with the officer in a roadblock situation.

Drivers may also refuse to perform field sobriety tests. This does not prevent the officer from arresting the driver. However, the arresting officer will have substantially fewer factors to support the arrest when it is challenged later in court.
Generally, by the time the officer has requested a driver to perform these roadside agility tests, the officer already believes the driver is intoxicated. Citizens should think long and hard before deciding whether or not to provide the officer with additional "evidence" of intoxication by performing the field sobriety tests.
If the motorist does not wish to comply, the police, in absence of an articulable reason to believe a crime has been or is being committed, must allow the driver to proceed. In the face of police inquiries based on less than probable cause, the citizen has the right to remain silent and move on without fear of retaliation in the form of further detention. The "right not to respond" permits motorists to refrain from engaging in alphabet recitations or other "command performances" of verbal and physical exercises.
 
That pastor was detained at a border patrol checkpoint. They shattered his windows, shoved his face into the broken glass, drug him from his car and tazed him. They charged him with a couple things that were thrown out.

If everyone resisted like this there would not be checkpoints!
 
Check pionts are only done on major known drinking holidays in our area and thru the summer. I think they are a good thing and if you are not drunk then dont worry about it. You all sound like you like to drive around drunk and dont want to get caught and thats why you hate check pionts.

I dont drink and havent for a long time. again i agree that drinking and driving is not good.

Just think about the word checkpoint

I ask, do you believe that it is ok for them to stop you to check and see if you have a license, insurance and registration ?
