Window Cleaning Certification. Good idea or not?

I see your thinking, theoretically speaking. But how did people get to know about Angie's List? My assumption is because they marketed like crazy, spending a LOOOOOOOT of money up front.
 
If you were to get certified wouldn't you do much of that "advertising" to your potential clients? Wouldn't you want to make it more important in your market? That's in fact what Angie's List did - they had the contractors making it a big deal to their potential clients.

I would Tony. Partly because I am personally proud that I am considered worthy of the certificate (if in fact it is credible). I've heard some truly are just a piece of paper.
But the main reason I would advertise that I am certified is to get more or better customers. Again, what would the average 'buyer' from you care more about: That his peers recommend you or that some unknown experts certified you? So the analogy to me goes only so far.
 
I think 50 posts and 500 read posts pertaining to the which certification needed should suffice for a 5 year probation period . Only fooling !

I passed my test and am certified in Wash Water Control. I see it as a good fit for window cleaning since I do wfp work and even though my state doesn't have the restrictions of others on waste water I like being ahead of the curve.

Dan you will have to join the BBS to read about the Standards and practice. The web pages for this have not been built yet.

The committees have them , just refining and tuning is happening.
 
For me, it's a huge advantage to say that I'm the only Certified window cleaner in the whole state and... The only Online Window Cleaning Business Instructor certified by the (IWCA) International Window Cleaning Association in Suspended Operations / (RDS) Rope Descent Systems and Ground Commercial Window Cleaning (CWC)! ..

For those who still don't understand the UAMCC's certification let me just say it's quite simple. The questions for the test have been produced by a committee of window cleaners, then submitted to the Certification Committee who goes over them to make sure they are factual and not opinion related questions. After that they send the questions back to the Window Certification Committee who make any changes necessary and then they are reavy to be put into test form. The testing is done thru a 3rd party not the UAMCC. IN the case of the Window Cleaning Certification we are incorporating an additional outside testas a prerequisite to being able to take the Window Certification test.
What will this mean? It will mean simply that those cleaners who pass the test have the basic knowledge of their chosen profession. That a National Non Profit Association has verified this and stands behind them as Certified window cleaners.
Now some may say this doesn't mean anything to them and yet they don't speak out against a manufacturer running a test where they say the person in question is "certified" in water fed pole cleaning. I find that a bit odd.
