Window Cleaning Certification. Good idea or not?

Logistically Gary that would be a nightmare. If you require a hands on (prove to me you can clean a window part) you would have to wait to certify cleaners at events only. Certification only verifies that the individual has the knowledge required to do the job much like electricians, plumbers, etc.

Five years in field training is required.

Next year we are raising them while putting in re-cert standards and education requirements. I'm pretty sure we will have a mentor program.

No Gary , a new guy cannot walk in pay his money take a silly course and get certified.

The same as a master plumber would require history working under another plumber willing to sign off on that history.
Since this is new we have other documentation now.

We are moving slowly and it will improve as the org become stronger.


Like all the org it has had large ups and downs.

Actually in the same module Gary can't see tony the member would sign off for you there. Your proof that was provided was better at this point.

The process as of now is the same for all, safety will not have the same requirements.

Safety in my future dreams will be free to all members. New ones and old, required to even be a member in Good standing.
 
If you want a certification to be useful the testing should be comprehensive. For instance I recently took a certification test offered by the UAMCC. It was a combination of safety, common sense, and technical questions. It should be the same for any window cleaning certification testing offered. Oh and it was timed so there is no running online to find the right answer. Kudos to the UAMCC for putting out valuable certification tests.

So you pre-qualified because of hands on experience. Thats great Tony, I won't share your score but the test isn't just a fluff design to rubber stamp you certified. Now members and most importantly the consumer can guarantee when you show up standards are met.
 
I can't say your certified until two committee members review your application fully and scores. It is required by two members to sign off, this we feel will keep legitimacy to the cert.

Also if you didn't qualify for 5 year we will retest you physically prior to two year renewal. Based on qualifications and test Score

A entire different test each time, actually no one will get the exact same at the start. It's all random

I passed my test and am certified in Wash Water Control. I see it as a good fit for window cleaning since I do wfp work and even though my state doesn't have the restrictions of others on waste water I like being ahead of the curve.

I think being certified shows the customer your dedication to your service. Just like joining an association. Have you ever had customer ask you if your in one? I know i have not. Most of them don't even know what they are. I worked for a very large steel corporation we hired outside contractors for all kinds of different jobs. If we seen a contractor certified in what ever his job was we looked at that as someone who takes there job/company serious. just my 2 cent.

Staying ahead of the curve is the smart thing to do.

I guess - but didn't you go into this kinda knowing what the certificate would say?
"This is to certify that Tony Evans has [done what?]"
