Window Cleaning Certification. Good idea or not?

I guess - but didn't you go into this kinda knowing what the certificate would say?
"This is to certify that Tony Evans has [done what?]"

Gary the websites getting update that info is in membership only area. Should be fully updated by jan 1

As I said in an earlier post I tested for Waste Water Control. I'm sure that will be on there somewhere.

Is that the same as "wash water control"?

Typo. I think I fixed that now.

We can joke around with each other here, right?
I mean, I tried to leave this alone for a couple of days, but I can't waste a good line.....

Was that on the test :-?

This method of certification seems to be more valid and solid than most.
Still, the sad thing is at this point, few people who will eventually pay us for our services care.
It may be a greater challenge to help the general public recognize that their choice of whom to hire should be based on such credentials.

To me it's much like anything we do with our customer in regard to education. We want them to choose us over other service companies and we spend dollars on advertising, uniforms, vehicle lettering, and other things designed to set us apart from the competition. It's no big leap to see this certification as a very valid way to help our customer choose us over non certified competitors. Beyond that it adds more credibility to the industry as a whole since it helps us portray ourselves as technicians dedicated to continuing our education in our field.

This is why your heading the window certification process Tony.

These have to start someplace.

If anyone would have said angielist would mean anything to consumers three years ago people would have laughed.

Now because most service industry have not taken this type of thing into there own hands we have others sourcing service people out.

Help them care.

I see the idea of certification has been derided by one supplier and some of his forum members. Of course I fully expected this. Nothing new there.

No biggie. There will be a few with differing opinions and that's ok. Not gonna slow us down or have any effect on what we're doing.

Chris at WCR
On the upside the other suppliers have either had no comment on certification or have been supportive. I guess they understand that educated cleaners are a good thing for the industry.

It's been interesting to see this develop on Facebook today. The ones that are against it are ones I knew going in would be. I wonder how these people will feel when they see how positive this will be for the industry!?

Yeah the more and more I read and see who is against it the more I understand they aren't really against it.

Ron, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Angie's List give recommendations from satisfied customers? I see that as 'certification from customers', not from an organization. It's probably better that way in some cases.

Funny you mention this, we used this as and example of how orgs have failed us in the past. Customers turn to angie for window cleaners.

Dan, Angie's List started out by pushing for those certifications (recommendations). In time a quality certification will draw customers to cleaners like Angie's List does for contractors.
