Very good Scott. Shelly could have chosen a better picture angle though. :)

He was just happy Shelly was there.

Anybody know what happened here about a year before I was born?

We lived in this town till I was 5 yrs old. We adopted my sister, half Choctaw Indian. The authorities found her in a week old diaper crawling across an almost frozen swamp. She only knew how to eat out of a dog bowl. We left this town and moved to Tennessee after getting threats and having people spit at us for walking around downtown with an Indian kid.

Now the Choctaws have practically saved the town economically and it is a beautiful town. But it is,still known for something that happened in 1964 that made national news. Ronald Reagan started his presidential campaign there many years later.

Any guesses?

Another one:

Who's grave is this?

He mysteriously died here. South Dakotans and others can thank him for their territory.

He used an air rifle that could take dowm Buffalo (because it was waterproof)

He was a secretary for Thomas Jefferson.

Ok, three for one,

This president is considered one of the top ten presidents.

He lived in my small hometown.

He added more territory than any other president but not without controversy

Who is it?

At first I thought Andrew Jackson but when you said added more territory I decided it must be James K Polk from Columbia TN.

Wow! You're hired! We need you to homeschool Fayth. We're doing ok, but I grew up here and didn't even know James K Polk expanded our territory like that.

He was a one term president. Congress tried to impeach him for declaring war on Mexico after they crossed over the border and killed around a dozen of our men. His actions are still cited today when a president uses executive power to send troops.

He worked 10-12 hrs per day, six days per week during his presidency. He took three weeks off in four years. He said it was his responsibility to do all he can in the time God gave him to serve his country. He died three months after leaving office. He is considered the greatest one term president this country has ever had. He kept every campaign promise except the promise to seek two terms.

His wife served as his advisor and secretary writing and editing speeches, etc.

This is how hard they worked.

These portraits were painted three years apart, the one on the right was near the end of his presidency.

And here is his wife at 41 entering office.

And here she is at 45 leaving office:

That is what I call public service!
