Be real careful on entrance way ceilings. A lot of times you are dealing with dry wall and spraying it with a pressure washer can be a disaster. Light spritz to test it. For that situation I would take a broom and try to get most of it off. I am at the point where I tell the customer I don't deal with entranceway ceilings because they are so unpredictable. If they insist I charge accordingly, because its usually hand brushing and spraying really light application of hw mix to clean any mold or mildew.

I cleaned an entrance like that over the weekend. I used my house mix (SH and Elemonator) downstreamed using J-rod soft wash tips (2510, 2540) and had no issues. Mix your surfactant a little heavy to help get the webs off.

Go to your local hardware store and purchase a round(interior) dusting brush which will have a small adjustable, usually metal handle. Then purchase a small(6-12' OR A 8-16') aluminum window cleaning pole which has the threaded cone tip. Thread the round dust brush to the window pole and use it to remove most of the cob-webs before you wet anything. I have two of them and they work very well. You won't need as much cleaner to remove the rest of the webs and you will use a lot less water!!!

Thank you everyone for the answered questions. Today I tried Fabuloso on my 100 gallon mixture i used 2 gallons of it and it really didnt mask the smell as much as i thought it would, it almost seemed like the SH mix ate most of it. Then i tried the pinalen max as well on my 50 gallon mix and the same thing happened. What scent boosters are you guys using from the power wash store or similar online stores? I see they have cherry, lemon and some other ones but which one would you guys say has the best smell in your opinion? I ended up just filling one of the fabuloso gallons and added a little fabuloso and topped it with water and went around the driveway and entrance pouring it that way the customer smelled that instead lol.
 
What we're doing isn't illegal or immoral,..no reason to hide the SH from the customers,... ,..I explain to every roof customer the process and and solution that will be used,..and also explain that that bleach is the chemical recommended by the manufacturers,...but in reality,..the customer doesn't really care anyhow,..They just want their roof cleaned.

You will never find anything that takes the familiar smell of bleach away entirely,.especially in these volumes and concentrations,....so why bother at all. I certainly wouldn't be spending money and effort on products to dump on the ground,..in fact I wouldn't even do that if they were free. What if the customer seen you doing that,.. and even questioned you on it?

The reason I got these 3 jobs was that one customer got her neighbors and said that they didn't want that strong bleach smell so I told her I would mix something in there that would smell good.
 
After you get a few years under your belt and have done hundreds of roofs and gain a good reputation,..you'll see that the smell will be a non issue,..to you or your customers,..and won't be worth the hassle of trying to find something to cover the smell.

Jeff is so right with this! Explain to the customer that what you need to kill algae, Lichen and Moss requires a strong cleaner and ask the customer would they like to have something sprayed on their roofs that they know about or would they rather have something sprayed on the roof that they know nothing about and consequently could end up being more environmentally destructive. For the customers who ask, Inform them that Sodium Hypochlorite can only pose a hazard to the environment for a very brief amount of time versus something which claims to be bleach-free but takes months to work. Explain to them that a product which takes months to do the same job remains active for months... What's that doing to the environment?????

After doing enough roofs, And you have most likely already learned it, Only mix the batch strong enough for the roof you are working on. A lot of times, I will mix a batch in a 1 gal. pump sprayer and do a quick test to see if a weaker mixture will work. If not, I mix a little stronger. As we all know, The smell won't be as noticeable in a weaker mixture. I use Elemonator with my mix and it gives the SH a more "Mr Clean" type smell.

I had a customer three weeks back who asked what would I be using and is it safe for the environment. I told him I would be using Sodium Hypochlorite along with a commercial surfactant and if used correctly, Is one of the safest ways to clean algae. I didn't use the word bleach. I wasn't hiding anything in doing so. I simply used the technical term for bleach.

As Jeff stated, We're not doing something illegal or immoral... Unless of course, You dump the mix in an area which can run into a "U.S." body of water. And as Jeff also stated, Do every job as if you are being watched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have lost track of the times I have been working in a development and watched some goof look around to see if someone was watching him and then dump something on the ground. That just "Screamed" Guilty.....

ROOF SNOT all the way buddy. Yes those roof will clean with straight up chem however your spending more money on chemical that you can dilute and get more out of it by adding water and roof snot ( or something like it ) I can tile roofs all the time, Only a matter of time before that straight chemical changes the color of the house paint or causes some other kind of problem you don't expect. Nice rig though.. Good luck

Thanks I got one. Now I just gotta use it. Also the roof snot I tried to buy it and shipping was going to be almost $40 so i think I'll go with the dragon grip since they offer free shipping and it's almost similar from what I hear.

Shipping is not $40 that is a shopping cart error. I think I pay like $25 for a 5 gallon pail. so it's $90 comes out to $18 a gallon. I used to use several different surfactants. Roof snot is the best IMO it rinses off windows like a dream. My first couple of orders from Russ at soutside the shipping calculator said something like $250. I found out that is the shopping cart tallying things separately. The shipping is in line with everybody else. I wpuldn't care if the shipping was $50 I'd still buy roof snot. You'll see if you do house washes. Having streaked windows is a pain and a nightmare. roof snot solved that.

Have you used dragon grip before? Someone told me it rinses better then roof snot
