Please tell me this is not a Certified Practice of Roof Cleaners in the RCIA HELP!!!!

As far as Ron's comments for safety, he is right, there are certain ways to walk asphalt roofs, this requires a few years of experience and agility to do this. Bob is good at what he does, but our 30yrs in the roofing industry there is far too many guys we have trained and you can see a difference in guys who are uncertain on a roof. The problem is you get a couple young guys working together on a roof and they challenge each other, testosterone kicks in, that is where accidents will happen. While it is impressive and gets the "wow" from many guys, it may bring issues for new comers to the business, especially if they are young.

This is the part that confuses me, I have not heard of this org and when the RCIA was being formed by Chris T, I don't remember hearing anything about any other roof org out there or that the RCIA was a part of it or they got their ideas from it or anything else like that.

Did someone tell you this? If so, who because I would like to know and I am sure other people out there would also like to know.
 
chris there was a huge debate on the rcia back in january. You cant read it now becuase it has all been deleted. This prca was started by a former member who saw that nothing was being done on the .org site and started his own consumer based contractor list. I believe kim is helping him create this site.(prca)

You are right, it actually was a collective group of about 10 members, which included Bob & Steve, they had been hosting the .org site for about a year all the while we were assembling the things needed for the PRCA website. In one day it all changed when Bob got the keys to RCIA to help tweak the forum, things turned rather sour in 24 hours and pretty soon many ideas that were being worked on were now on the .org site. The thing I don't get still to this day, is they had that .org site for over a year and did nothing to it, they were supposed to have been putting it together way back as an add on for RCIA. Then it just faded out and was never finished or updated.
What we were in the midst of doing was also to possibly align with RCIA in some way, it needed to be separate but beneficial to the RCIA premium membership. We had designed it so it would stand alone, a place for consumers to find information and a quality roof cleaner. The final details were never completed and it was not for sure how it all would have looked.
So now this is where we are and we have always maintained that education for consumers is a good thing for all of us, no matter if they find the RCIA site or others, we were just looking for a large collective group of cleaners for consumers to help them either learn about it or contact a cleaner on the map. The problem is the internet has generated so many different places for info and can be confusing. We were hoping to streamline this for them and the contractor. The fees for being listed are nil, ($5 pd to the web designer per county listing) and this was done because we are not looking for money or fees nor personal SEO juice. Many companies are paying so many fees for this and that, like Angies List , Groupon etc., we as cleaners were tired of getting nickel and dimed to death and coming up in the red from these supposed great sites that would generate leads etc. So we wanted to assembly ourselves in a unified way and spread the word to consumers.

I'm sorry we all wasted time to make RCIA a real Association. Its now a Joke, being run as a real association with a real Cert. It has neither, it had people like myself AC , Bill an others who had vision of what the industry needed.

Now its nothing, period please do not Join it. If you belong to it please do not waste your hard earned Dollars on it.

Some of the people there are friends, I'm sorry I do not want others getting involved in something that might hurt there business in the long run.

I'm sorry the way I feel, its not because I was banned. Its simply not a very nice Place any longer, it does not stand for what Chris, Myself an others built over the last five years.

Chris isn't even around anymore.
 
Is Chris Tucker involved in the new one?
If I'm not mistaken he was just over on WCR mentioning RCIA. It could have been an old post, I guess.
 
I agree, that was not anywhere near 500psi.

If you think about it, if you have to apply pressure more than what comes out of the garden hose to rinse anything off the roof, that is a good indicator that the product did not work, is bogus, is a scam, is something I would not use and is something that could lead to roof leaks since you have to use pressure to remove something off the roof which was never engineered to have any type of pressure cleaning done on it.

If the proeduct worked, you could rinse it with a garden hose or let the wind blow it off. Since you have to use pressure like the scam-type roof cleaners, you are still applying preessure to your roof. I would not use that product and I would stay away from it, chances are the roof could start leaking and since you were the only one on it, doing anything to it in the past many years, good chance you will have a claim on your insurance policy, if you even have insurance for roof cleaning, too big of a chance for the downside for me. I will stick to what works here.

Look at any of the tech bulletins from ARMA, GAF or others out there, they all state to never use pressure to clean the roof materials, this product is probably voiding your roof as you use pressure on your roof, why would you want to void the roof warranty?

Life is good and very busy. :) PRCA is doing well, we recieved an email for 30 cedar roofs in Conn. to be cleaned from the HOA president. Now to find a roof cleaner in that area that services cedar.
Things going well for you Ron? I am sure they are, for you failure is not an option. :)
