Phil Ackland Interviews

Thats exactly right, and certification definitely proves that the guy knows more than the average cleaner in regards to NFPA 96. If you look at the NFPA 96 codes very carefully, you will see how much a cleaner that knows these codes can not only educate the customer, but help limit the restaurant's and their own liability.

There is much more to it then just blowing some chemical in there and rinsing it out, cleaners need to take responsibility for their customer's systems, and insist that their systems are up to NFPA 96 standards.

Back from the Louisiana and Texas seminars.

In both cases -- the number two guy in the State Fire Marshall's offices attended the seminars. In both cases they approached me on the subject of certification that I was preaching.

Again in both cases, I face the audience and asked them point blank if the values of having exhaust cleaners commit to the simple values of accepting the responsibilities of "removing the entire fuel load" and reporting if they could not and why in writing.

All agreed they were reasonable and balanced expectations. With governments and politics, a person never knows were reason and logic will go, but I think we made a good step forward.

We have one-day seminars scheduled for Chicago (May 21st in Mundelein (north of Chicago) and the 22nd of May in Plainfield (south of Chicago)

Then Wisconsin IAAI convention the 4th of June in Stevens Point

Several others are in various stages of development

If any of you would like to support one of these seminars in your area, let me know. The first thing you need to do is locate a Fire Training Hall that will fit around 40 to 50+ people. (We give 3 free seats to the Host Fire Hall). Anyway let me know.

One other point -- I try to say "cleaned" as little as possible. It is "removing the combustible fuel" or various similar statements.

Nice PDF Phil
Ron called me today, to discuss my post. I explained that I expected the conversation to be more relevant to KEC. I just want to see some information linking arson to kitchen exhaust fires. Post a link...

Bring something to the table, like this article linking the importance of ducumentation to KEC...
http://www.philacklandcleaning.com/docs/article05.pdf
...then you'll get people's attention.
