Newsletters

Henry,

We have an opt in subscription page on website to sign up for our email newsletter. They hit submit and you receive it like a regular email. Depending on the volume you receive will dictate how you extract contact info. A few here and there can be manually entered into whatever program is utilized to store you info. We utilized a contact manager and have a special program that automatically grabs and transfers the information into our contact manager. The contact manager allows you to send emails from it and to make html email templates, do mass email mail merges and draw up different groups you design, Make one email newsletter members. Design your email newsletter template once and all you have to do is input the different information when you make a new edition. Pretty simple after you get the basics down. This is a lot less expensive than print newsletters which we did for years.

Bryan,

I've never done a newsletter.............I have little to add to this conversation....

Mike,
I was referring to the help in uploading the newsletter from a floppy. I don't know why it didn't work for the poor fella and I would hate to see him have to send out all these e mails to everyone requesting a copy.

I email you guys a bunch of different stuff. I hope it helps. Some of the information on the marketing material may be outdated.

The newsletter was sent to realtors. also there is part of another newsletter.

Wow!

I haven't read it all yet, but it looks great! Do you print that in color, and if so, do you print it yourself, or have it printed? If you have it printed, what's it cost you?

Thanks, man, I really appreciate the stuff you sent. You're always handing out great info on marketing.

I'll post more comments/questions later after I have a chance to look at all you sent a bit closer.

Hey Tim those are some great newsletters and stuff you have there. I'm not sure if your interested in my opinion or not but I think you did a wonderful job on them.
I did have a couple of questions for you though. In one section you state "We use high-power state of the art equipment and quality EPA Approved chemicals"
I would reccomend changing that phrasing to We us Professional state of the art equipment. In my area, a lot of people are concerned with high pressure and high power may give them pause.

Hey Mike,

What program do you use that you were referring to?
I was wondering if you have an auto reply email that gets sent when someone signs up for your newsletter that has the newsletter embedded in it. I would think that would be an easy automated way of doing it. Even If I don't have one set up myself..lol I have been thinking about making one but I'm planning on sending one out every month. This way I can let people know that its time for whatever service goes with that season, give them coupons that expire in a couple of weeks so they will want to keep recieving it each month. I figure this way they will see my business card on the fridge every day and they will get my newsletter each month. What better way to keep them thinking about my company and recomending me to someone that may mention needing a service I provide?

Henry,

This is the link to the program we use to extract information from our web forms and import them into our contact manager-Act6. http://www.nwoods.com/act/prospect.htm . The program is called web prospect by northwoods software. The autoreponse email feature is something your can set up on the control panel when you set up preferences with your web host company. The only problem is it gets picked up as spam a lot of the time because it is an autoresponse. Also, it takes a LOT OF WORK to push a newsletter out every month. Consider 4-6 times a year and go light on the hard sell in the content. Be more information oriented. Also, try to keep it brief and to the point but interesting as people are busy.

Hey Tim,

Thanks for emailing the information. I really appreciate it!

iam really trying to expand my marketing this year thanks

Hey Tim,

Thanks for the emails. The few I looked at looked good. I especially like the news letter. I would maybe add a small photo above each subject. It will juice them up a bit but other that that, good information.

I used to do the newsletters for Cubscouts, they just were too time consuming and someone else took them over.

But you have refreshed my thought on business. Thanks again

Your welcome - I hope they help you.

Hey Tim,

It was probably just an oversight, but I had requested to be included on the distribution list of your material and I was left out :( Could you (or someone who did recieve it) forward it to me, also? I REALLY appreciate any help I can get.

Has anybody developed their own newsletter?

or any other marketing material?

Any ideas out there?

Well I finally started kicking out my own newsletter and someone made a comment about it being difficult to put it out each month. They were quite correct...LOL

I have an idea though to make it easier. Many of us are a looong way from each other and won't actually be competing against eachother. What sharing our information, articles and other stuff with each other? This way we could all use the same information after changing company names ect. and it would require less time to do so. This is just a suggestion and for those of you that aren't interested I understand. For those of you who would like to do this email me and let me know. I've got lots of old articles and other stuff that I've written along with stuff I've found on the net than can be used as long as the writer is credited.

If your interested in helping each other out with this let me know. My goal is to be able to use a newsletter and my website to it's fullest potential. I have over 10,000 clients and I know if I email them with information and a special each month I would keep all my crews busy year round without having to spend a dime on ads in newspapers, the phone book or any of the other places I spend so much money on each month.

If you want an example of something I wrote for a local paper that you can use, let me know. I would be happy to email it to you so you will know that I'm serious about this.

We could ask Mike H. to create a section on this board for people to put articles or even examples of newsletters, flyers, business cards, etc.

This will be good for everyone, especially the new contractors in the business.

I'm not sure but I think there may be an area on here already for it. This may be petty but we all work pretty hard on getting information for our newsletters. I'd personally prefer that only those that share articles be able to use the ones that are shared. That's just a preference, that doesn't mean that I wouldnt do it. I know people that are just creating their first one won't have anything to contribute but those of us that have been doing them probably have LOTS of stuff we can share with eachother. I've already started emailing out some of my stuff and I'm looking forward to seeing what I get back from people. One of the guys sent me a copy of one of his newsletters and it's amazing how many similiar things we do in our newsletters. Of course it's all about power washing so there isnt much to say thats different but it's still cool to see that other people think the same way I do.

If your interested in sharing your newsletter stuff just email me at henryshousework@comcast.net

Henry

I see your point. I'm trying to create a reason for new members to want to become old members on this board.
