Newsletters

Heres an idea thats works for me. I'm currently working on this years newsletter.

Each spring, I mailed a newsletter to all my current and past customers. The newsletter does a couple of things:

-keeps "TIDALWAVE" in their minds
-Informs the customers of my services (both existing and new services)
-Educates the customer (for example in this years newsletter, I have an article on Wood Restoration, Ashpalt Roofs, & House Cleaning. I explain the benefits of cleaning the above, etc.
-This year, I'm going to put some coupons in there.

Anyone else do this or something similar to it?

Tim,

We sent out printed newsletters in the past. We recently got our website www.powerwashnow.com up and are in the process of producing an email newsletter. Any advice would be helpful.

Hey Cmobile,

Nice site. Just came up for air. Lot of info. Reminds me of the ole joke about the guy that finally comes to the end of the internet. Just joking, Nice site.

Hey Tim,

How bout sharing that on the board or send one to me. Like to see it. We send out card magnets as well as magnet calendars with our logo/name/number. It helps to refresh their minds that were still here. Also, do you bulk send or send individually ?

The free newsletter link on your site is an awesome idea. I see so many websites that are nice, but not fully utilized. A website is a great tool for gathering information on the potential customer. A suggestion on your website: maybe too much info. Readers are lazy, they do not want to spend a lot of time searching. Its all about being customer friendly. I would put the link to your newsletter at the top. I love the pictures - theres no need for a lot of words, if you use pictures. I think websites should be a tool for gathering information and educating the potential customer. Also with your newsletter - don't forget the opportunity to network. Send your newsletter to other business owners in the service industy. For example - landscapers, painters, deck builders, hanyman, electritions, roofers, etc. Another way to build relationships (networking) is to link your website to other businesses that have websites. Basically, form a referral group via the internet.

I have last years newsletter on 3 1/2 floppy. Can I post it from the floppy? My scanner is in the dumps. Although there are several contractors that visit this board that live in my area (my competition) - I will be glad to do so. I say to my local competition, bring it on. haha
I actually share information with my competitors. The more they know, the more they charge - the more they charge, the more I can charge. Once the majority of us start charging in a similar range, thens it comes down to presentation and marketing (my backyard) -- so I send information to my competition often. I've told several about this board.

I tell ya what, I am not so giving to my competitors as you are even though I like your thinking. If you would, could you email it to me at onecallpowerwash@comcast.net. I would love to see it. I thought about doing this last year and the year before that and the year before that etc... but have never gotten around to it. I currently keep up my sons school web site, my sons Cubscout Pack web site and my own but I think since we added another employee, I might find some time. I agree, it is a good avenue for customer relations.

I appreciate the kind words and advice on the networking via the website. If you don't post your last years newsletter on this site, would it be possible to email a copy so I can look it over? I am always looking for new ideas. My email is: Mike@powerwashnow.com

Thanks

Mike

How do I post the newsletter on this site from a 3 1/2 floppy?

I'll be glad to do so. If I can't post it, I'll email it. I really would like to learn how to post from a 3 1/2 floppy - I have a lot of other things that I could post.

If you're using Windows 98, click the "browse" button to the right of the "Attach File" window at the bottom of the "post reply" screen. Once the window pops up, click the drop down arrow to the right of the "Look in" window near the top of the window. Select your 3 1/2 floppy drive from the list, and it should bring up a list of files on the floppy.

It will have to be in either gif, jpg, png, txt, zip, bmp, or jpeg format.

If you're using Windows XP, I'm sure the procedure is similar.

Floppy is at my other office. I will email newsletter in the morning. Please be sure to post both positive and negative comments on this thread. I'm alway looking to improve.

Tim,
I would like a copy of your newsletter to. I have been thinking of doing one myself and I sure can use some good ideas on how to do it.

Thank you

I tried to attach - would not allow me too.

I will start the email.

Would you all mind sending me a copy of your newsletter also?
my email address is henryshousework@comcast.net

This sounds like a really good idea! I wish I knew how to set one up on my website.

Any tips on doing this?

Do you have microsoft 2000? If so go into word and it will allow you to form a newsletter. Its pretty cool.

When it comes to your public image or the customer perception - a newsletter can really help.

Bryan,

I've never done a newsletter.............I have little to add to this conversation....
