Lets Talk PWNA today

Ron.......I know that was the point, yet only Henry had something to say about it.....if it is so great, I want to hear more people tell me why I should join and how it will help me grow my business more so then the relationships developed on these boards, the support and knowledge gained from these boards and the information exchanged by members of the online community both in public and offline.

Mike, I share alot. We know people here often dont and mislead folks on purpose.

Now did you ever think we might know something you have never expereinced and often most dont want or care if you or anyone else finds out.

Henry Shared and I can tell you I have the same stories as well as Paul just shared he has the same.

Trust me , dont expect the members in your area doing commercial jump out and tell you to Join. The PWNA is not selling dreams, its hard working guys like you making there business better.

The Sharing and knowledge I have recieved and gained didnt all come from these BBS.

Sure you cant take the Value away from any BBS because I started this one and believe it or not some great things started right here for the industry.

I can tell you some secrets I learned from the PWNA member Elite. I can tell you I also learned a valuable tip in MB during this years meeting. I would not have found this idea online, it was in a talk during the show.

Being org helps, BBS are great and provide a nice net communication for us all. We also share and build relations right here.

I know a residential contractor that does over 4 mil a year, prior to meeting him I met three others. I never thought that kind of money could be made in the residential market by a PW contractor. (I was Wrong)

Well, I'm not telling you to join Mike. I'm not even recommending you attend a meeting this year. Each person has a right to there own thoughts and views on these matters.

I guess thats why we all are selfemployed.

Your a uniqe contractor Mike, your likely going to do fine with or without anyone. But why possibly miss something that might make it easy for faster to obtain your goals? (especially for $175.00)

People are to impacted by what they get, if you give you get back.

Best thing I ever did in business was join the PWNA. My business has grown 10 fold. I have learned so much from seasoned contractors and vendors that the cost of membership and attending conventions is minute. But the biggest reason that I continue to be involved is the friendships that I have made with many of the membership. When I leave from a convention, I'm inspired! I leave with a new sense, a new direction, new ideas. I learned something from someone. I go back and apply what I've learned and this always helps my business grow. It's seems like a no brainer to me? I started going to PWNA conventions 12 years ago, I had 3 mobile units(5 tons) now I have 20 of them in three provinces, I attribute alot of this sucsess to the PWNA. I would like it if you all considered joining. It's in all of our intrest to have a strong assoiation! The PWNA has never been in better shape!

Ok guys, I'm not a big "poster" here, but been around the industry a long long time.
What Paul here is trying to say Orgizations are a "TOOL" and I agree with him. I started with nothing like most of you. For the first 5 years I did it all by myself there was no bbs, hell there was no internet in your home, we are talking local hardware store for soap. I heard of the PWNA and watched for years, but at this time I was doing real good with a pressure washing income for a nobody that started out cold turkey. Who needs a org.! I'm taking month long vacations- I'm good, right?

Well, I tell you what, while I was on a two month vacation in Florida one year in year 2000 or so, I was getting board at the rental house and my wife said go check out that PWNA thing in Orlando where they were having a Convention deal.

So I did, and I was hooked on people helping people. I was sold, and met some of the great industry leaders that I never knew there was, and got answers to help grow my business to the next level. I was thinking of not doing decks anymore before that Pwna Convention because of a bad bad bad bad product, after that Convention with in a year or so I trippled my deck income with about the same amount of decks completed. All from some good old sound advice of a bad experience into a proftable idea from a great supplier I met at that show.
Got interduced to suppliers and tools to make my life easier. The ORG's are where you get your business done. I don't advertise Pwna, Uamcc to my customers or even on my advertising pieces, the ORG's are a "TOOL" for your knowledge to grow yourself and your business.

Its been 18 years now and I'm at another stage of business growth and need help and advice. Its kinda nice because I found good people I met face to face at Conventions that I now trust and have developed relationships with!
I need their help and sound advice and that is something you do not get on the BBS. Face to Face relationship's and trust get business done. Hope I'm not to old school on this theory!

You need strong working relationships, you are not going to walk away from a ORG. and get new business leads. You are going to walk away with knowledge on how to build, manage, grow, stay alive, fix, have answers of do's or don't, etc............

A ORG. is just a "TOOL".
You have a choice, do I use the plyers in my tool box to loosen the bolt or do I use my hand? If you use your hand its going to take a lot longer to loosen that bolt and its going to hurt for awhile!
A ORG. is a "TOOL" of choice and makes life eaiser. At least it does for me!

Good Luck in choosing your "TOOL"

Great posts guys, thanks!

I was a member back in 2004 and I did not see any value in the membership back then but I also was new to the business.

I appreciate the guys coming and posting their experiences, thanks.

None of them have to justify their buying decisions or reasons for being a member of the PWNA to anyone no matter who the people are who want to know and why. Like Ron said, this thread is not about people's opinions about the PWNA or about people demanding to know why people join or show them reasons to join, it is about the benefits.

Thanks for sharing guys. I am at the point where I will probably join this year and see what I can do with it, it is a tool.

Thanks again guys!

Good Choice Chris. I am still a member of the PWNA for around 10 yrs now but so much less involved. Maybe thats why I haven't recieved the big job I landed being a PWNA member a few years back. You know the saying you get out of it what you put into it and there are alot of good guys over there that you can be a sponge to learn off of these guys.

The more I think about the PWNA the more I want to go to there Columbus Convention because a few years back they had a real winner with that one.

The problem I am having with the PWNA Convention is that I may have to many conventions on my plate at that time of the year. The NPA's Convention is in Boston around October 11, Rons NCE expo is the end of September and the PWNA Convention is also sometime in October. Tough Decisions to make but all fun to attend.

I agree 100% of what Paul Horsley said and that is the reason why he is so successful because he was determined to make his PWNA membership work for him as did Daryl Mirza and those two successful guys with there messages should be highly considered as to what they are saying.

Weren't you at the Dallas Convention?? Thats when I first became a PWNA Board Member and I thought that show was also a good one. What did u think about that one back in the day??

Hey Ron where did you find it only cost $175 to become a PWNA member? Was that a special they had and if so how long does it last? I currently pay $350 but if they lowered there price let me know.

Thanks

Thanks John.

I was at the Dallas Convention back in 2004 when I decided to quit working for the other companies that did not believe in quality work, did not believe in giving value for the money, etc.... and started my own Pressure Washing business.

I thought it was an incredible convention! It was the one with the window cleaners, seemed like there was over 1000 or more people there, I was really impressed!

I took a lot of classes, took Everett's class on wood restoration, some marketing classes, etc...I wish I could have gone to more of them and I made some good friends there.

Between both of those organizations you had so many people to network with, make new friends with and learn from, just wish I would have known more about networking back then, O Well.

I would like to see something like that again, it would be nice.

The snow in Dallas was cool also. hahaha

We are also proud members of the Power Washers of North America. PWNA is the only association of contractors for the power washing industry that is not aligned with any vendors or manufacturers. Among other things, its purpose is to promote trade education and honorable business practices among its members.

I got the email today that our membership packet will be arriving soon. Thanks NCE for the free 1yr membership.

I can't wait to hear Scott what you have to say about all of this after your year membership is up......Remember you only get out of the org.s what you put into it. The first step would be to market your membership....

You will want to attend the convention. That's were you will benifit the most I think. Can't say enough about that!

I stand corrected. That is the place to get the quickest Benefit by attending some classes and also networking with some very successful Contractors who have been doing this for many many years.

Paul how are you doing these days???

This is Something I Love about the PWNA, its been around awhile. Its stood the test of time, its been through lessons they will not repeat.

This all means alot, customer Awareness will happen this go around. I will try to help with that, building bridges between customer orgs will be high on my list to talk with BOD about.

I'm truly excited about the things happening.

One of their main highlights of the show was the honoring of Robert M. Hinderliter President of Delco Cleaning Systems. PWNA awarded Robert Hinderliter as the founding father of PWNA at its 10th Anniversary Annual Meeting.
Robert Hinderliter founded PWNA more than ten years ago. Mr. Hinderliter had the vision and tenacity of establish an association run by the power wash contractors for the power wash contractors. He was the first of only five presidents to date who have served the organization including his son Michael Hinderliter President of Steamaway. Mr. Hinderliter's diligent work on behalf of the association is tireless. Each time they call upon him to share his knowledge and expertise he comes through. He has always been willing to help the industry through his pro bono offerings and services, and many power washers throughout North America owe their business success to his behind-the-scenes support of our PWNA. Robert Hinderliter is truly a leader deserving of this award.
Robert Hinderliter was also presented the 10 Year Achievement Award from IWCA to PWNA presented by Jack Pitzer, Executive Director of IWCA. Jack Pitzer will also be joining PWNA as of April 1, 2002. He will be the new Executive Director of PWNA.

Here something you cant find anyplace else, contractors willing to help others that have been in the business for years.

Also the PWNA has a Boot camp they run, they are introducing it all over the country.

At certain events they will be coming to teach topics.

The PWNA has been a leader in certification programs.

The most amazing thing is people wash for millions of dollars.

The PWNA has the largest group of vetaran contractor from residential to Commercial on the planet.

Its the oldest and most respected PW org. 18 years old.

I see great things and good hard working guys who have earned the respect of the industry.

If you have heard bad things about the PWNA its old news, this is a all new PWNA helping contractors around the world depsite the NA

John I will say they will double in the next three months.

Despite the bad wrap Orgs have had, doing is stronger than talking.

The PWNA is doing some great things.

John I support all orgs, the PWNA is just one in the tool box.
