I’m going to ask?

Called Out

To whom it may concern,

While I respect everyone's opinions , and encourage the dialogue to continue I feel that as all these threads about the PWNA go some folks are easy to identify all the problems but have little to offer in the way of solutions. I am not sure how many of you can read between the lines or not. I think most agree that the PWNA has room for improvement. I believe Ron is trying to address one of those problems, membership, so obviously there are things Ron would like to see improved also. I commend Ron and others who offer up suggestions and positive responses. For all those contractors who think they already know so much and already think you know all there is to "squirting our big water pistols", thank you , you are the reasons I keep making more money. I applaud your complacency and your lack of growth.

Ron and others who try to make a postive difference I thank you.
In closing I am calling folks out that if you offer up a problem or area of improvement how about a solution to go with it.

I wonder if the seamless gutter dudes have a org? ah called GUTRAIN... where they pay some org. 250.00 to say that they have a title.......and that they go accrose the US to get training in how to hang a gutter..

Actually, Dan.............yes, the seamless gutter dudes DO have an association...........and they have membership dues, and seminars, and everything else.

It is called AARCSIS..........American Association of Rain Carrying System Installation Specialists. (www.aarcsis.org)

A very secrective organzation, no way for the general public to enter their web site, unlike PWNA or most other orgs.

They must not promote their members if your blocked out.

Now compare that to the PWNA, it has an open area and one for members only.

I think if your blocking all but the members they are hiding something.

That is just me, could be they don't want the public in for frear of what?

Anyone a member or know someone that is ask them and tell us all please.

Jon

I preferr for them to stay out of my hair,I'm not wanting to be a big dog setting on the porch watching every move the little puppy's do and if they don't do the big dog runs the little puppys out of the yard as most groups try to do.All this crap will kill the little man in time, his cost will run more than he can bare trying to make a living. As any group will do they will stomp on the ones speaking againest them whether right or wrong. Its going to be a battle for them anyway b/c alot of the small businessman of today are fairly smart as in knowing whats good for them and others.Alot or most can see whats happen in the last few years and its getting worse month by month,I'm sorry but I will not speak for them or againest them,I got what I want.

ahhhh first of all Everett .... I have enough Business Thank-you ....... I was refering to ------ when I said any-body can throw a p/wer in a trk. and go wash .. you dont need a degree or a label .......to preform such a task ... some of you might .. But I can get all the business I want without A" label "

I dont know maybe you guys live in a diff. world ............

No body has said YET what is , does, will -do the PWNA do with my $$$$$$ and how are they going to make my business grow?

Ron,

I wont travel no-where for a" round table " and pass idea's it's a waste of time for me .... but thats just me ...... free or not ... IF ya got an idea on business .. go to the bb's ... Im not wasting my time and money for a "Wonder trip " all b/c it MIGHT make me grow............ maybe we need to see everybodys W-9

I can betcha I made if not as much but more then most of you ........ and without a LABEL

bragging no>>> making a point .yes

I understand for the most part why you guys join IM not KNocking it .........

What I think is very funny is >>>>>> PWNA has been in this for how many years ???????? and how many members are there?
and we have a new member asking for money << and A member about a year ago was going to run off and start his own "club" where buying power was the main objective " now this member jumped on the ban-wagon and wants members .......... now thats funny <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Dan s

If they had a buying program would you be interested if you could save money?

Dan s. I'm sorry i was not asking you to Join, I realize you dont want to belong. I can respect that, so respect my stand to ask my freinds to support my efforts.

A true buy group would be difficult if not impossible with a group like PWNA. Local buying and round table groups are the only way to go. Now the big question-we all buy different supplies and items. A buying group pools orders to get a deeper discount. I just can't see it working-someone give me a idea on how this would work.

Does Delco give better rates to members? Can I beat the insurance rates of my local guy? What programs developed on a national level can benefit a local guy or group.

I belong to a local contractor group that rebates once a year a rebate on my workers comp. My check is around $2000 per year. The cost of this membership is $100 & yes I send that money each year. This group is very active in the arena of worker safety and workers comp. in the Golden State.

David

Ron you have remained professional in this whole "debate" for that I tip my hat !

I still dont get though >>>>>> but If I dont attend on joining then maybe I should ..........naaaaaaaa............. I wont keep quite but I will watch what I say ....... In the future
.................

PEACE MAN >>>>>>>>> MAY THE PWNA BE WITH YA !!!!!!!!!!hopefully huh ??

David,
I too respect your stand on your opinions and views. The PWNA is heading down a different road and I hope that in the future you will see that things can change.

David I need your help, you have great ideas about buying groups. Let’s get something rolling. You and I have talked about it in the past. Let’s work on the round tables and get smart contractors involved. I really think we could be saving money that we are not.

I realize that you’re flat fed up with the PWNA. I believe that we should be working with all people to make efforts stronger.

David Please call me 602-694-2680

So here is the big question where does the dues money go to? I don't need dollar amount just percentages.

Charlie

Charlie, you are a member? I seen a charlie on the PWNA site it that you?

I have not a clue as to were the money is spent. I trust the current body that they spend the money as needed on the projects they deem important.

Maybe we should ask the treasurer about this? Its a good question and you should have the right as any member should.

So Chris, lets have the numbers. how much on advertising and how much on paper. what doe the current mang co. take?

seems to be a resonable question.

Charlie, most of the funds are probably going to keep the org afloat. Thats why we need more members. Money makes things happen. if we want better programs then we need $$$$$.

we also need Good people willing to help. help and volinteers are very important.

I would assume the money is spent running the org. I really myself don't need a tally on funds. if you or anyone else would like it i will ask for it.

if the organization was larger and had more members i would expect some tally if they were at the present stages. at this point they are probably just covering costs.

Chris Detter can anwer this better, i dont know who the current tresurer is.

A thought !!!!!!!!!!

why dont the already members give another 250.00 Hey if ya cant find members then why not add to the kitty if you think it;s a worthy cause .... all you guys will double the membership
you will then have BUYING POWER for >>>>>>> ins,chems,all-supplies.

If you guys truly believe in the PWNA you would cough up another 250.00 and hey maybe even another name ...............

Ron since you are "begging" for $$$$$ and the PWNA cant seem to get new members and not to mention you are the one asking for us to call Doc and give 250.00 and you cant even tell us for sure where the $$ is being spent .. Not to mention NO_ BODY HAS ANSWERED MY QUESTION .............What will the PWNA do for me and my company??????????????????????????????????

and to top it off>>> where is Doc? how come he hasnt said anything? how come he hasnt "begged" well maybe he has I just missed it .

oh waite I get it .....I understand the whole picture now ..... gezzzzz I cant believe this one slipped right pass me............

Ron,

you wanting members,250.00. now since you coughed up 250.00 and cant figure out where they spend the money , and you cant see any-changes in your business .......then you want every-body else to join the ban-wagon as to get your investment back .

you are one smart cookie .........I just gotta give you that ..............

and to think a couple years back you were against all this mess and you wanted your own org. ............... i love your thinking ........
if ya was here i would just give ya a big-big hug ...........

at the firehouse

they put me in charge of fund drive.
One year they tried to sell $100 tickets to win a car. It failed[we broke even].
I asked permission to do another ticket sale for a HARLEY. Lot's of guy's did not want to try. Only 4 of us ride any kind of bike. I told them i did'nt need there support on sales just the cost of the bike. They agreed. The 4 of us went to 2 bike shows. We were going anyway's, and set-up a table with pictures of us and fire equipment, along with the bike.We got into the shows for free[so we got something out of it] and instead of selling $100 tickets we sold $10 tickets, but books of 12 sold for $100. We sold out in 2 shows with 4 guy's.
It was the most succsessfull fund drive we ever had. If we tried to just sell $100 tickets we would have failed. That is what they did with the car. They had 42 members trying to sell car tickets and only 4 sold the bike tickets.
$250 for the part timer is just too much even to test the water's. No offence but you cant even get a decent amount of hit's on your bbs.
Getting into just this one thread has done more harm then good. You need TO START SMALLER.
Some say "i dont need you because i have all the work i need" if $250 get's you into a show at a place you would like to go or vacation[mini] and can be written off on your tax's. Then it could save you money and you get something for your $250 besides what the PWNA is offering.
You surely dont think the teachers convention in atlantic city has anything to do with learning,do you? It a orgy and tax write off,ive seen it.[moral fiber,ha ha ha]
Firemans convention in WILDWOOD is just a drunken write off and a chance to play on the beach.
It's not about the convention, it's about the fun at the convention site.
No one is going to put that in print for fear of a spouse not letting them go.
Im going full time this spring and you'll see my check when i do. I'll be a bigger fish then.
How meny people that post here have full time employee's and accountant's?

Well written Ron P,

You make great points, however, the $250 is the annual dues. To go a PWNA convention costs an additional $500 plus travel and hotel. So, indeed, it is a bite for the smaller new businessman. The longer one stays in this business the less likely they need the info that PWNA makes available, since they can get the same from the internet for less. PWNA has become a social club, an enlisted mens (persons) club for those who belong. Do you join join or not is a personal choice. The majority of experienced members don't stay - ask the two Davids.

Dan S, Quote

Not to mention NO_ BODY HAS ANSWERED MY QUESTION .............What will the PWNA do for me and my company??????????????????????????????????

Please tell me what you want, maybe I can Help you. Thats what the PWNA has to offer.

All make valid points on both sides of the coin. Just reading the responses it can make your head spin. It would be an easier decision if the PWNA offered something along the lines of Health/Dental Benefit or some other benefits. This is where the smaller contractor could really benefit if they had something to offer him along those lines.

It makes you wonder why Respected guys in this Industry that use to be members that aren't anymore like what Indiana jones said about David and David.

To counter point that you have guys like Mike Hughes,Micheal Hindeliter, Chris Detter, Beth and others who have been members for a few years who seem to not waver in there belief that the PWNA does and can help Contractors benefit from what the PWNA has to offer at this moment in time year in and year out.

The ultimate question here would and should be what do you get for the $250 membership fee that it cost yearly. Once you know that FACTUAL answer then and only then can each individual decide if it is worth joining. Blind faith is not FACTUAL.
