Hi again everyone,
Yes there are lot's of great suggestions, these are suggestions that have been discussed over and over again. Most everything y'all have mentioned in this thead has been acted upon and and everyone of them is being put into action as we speak.
It just takes longer to get things done than I thought. Believe me I wish I was King and could make things happen at the snap of my finger, but I'm just the president. My job is to guide the organization to great heights, and impove on the member benifits and motivate other board members to get things done. I am working on all these things and will continue. My goal it to make the PWNA a well repected national organization that gives everything it can right back to its members.
Many of the things that the organization is putting into affect will come to pass, they will just take more time than most of us wish.
All the past presidents have worked very hard getting things done but unfortunately they don't receive any credit because they are gone before new things actually happen, but also remember that none of the past presidents care about personal recognition they just want the organization to grow.
If any of you remember the PWNA of 10 years ago you would choke.
The group insurance thing is something I have been trying get in place too, But we are not big enough, and insurance companies cannot cover all the united states because of individual insurance laws. Only Aflack is willing and we are talking to them. But there again they are only a supplemental plan.
The money, Where's it going? It costs a lot more to run an organization than even I thought. If I thought it was ethical to copy and paste the financials I would. The treasuer is Paul Horsley in Canada. He's the guy that wrote the article in the Cleaner times about washing Railroad trains, He's a super guy. The treasurer only approves each bill, and there are 3 people that actually pay all the bills so honesty is certainly not an issue.
Each monthly board meeting we go over the books and budget etc. everything is in good shape. No we are not making money but we are paying our bills. In fact we are still paying off some old conventions bills from years ago. We are definately a strong organization financially with plans to grow.
The $250.00 annual dues issue was just passed. We have been trying to get that thing lowered for years, well we finally did. I have been asked by the management company not to announce it for a week or so, as they have lots-o-stuff to do. prior to the official statement. The present board of directors have been fighting for sometime to get this through, Believe me I'd rather have 1000 members at less dollars than 300 at big dollars. The actual dues will be based on an graduated scale of the amount of annual revenue your company generates. It will not actually go into affect til Jan. 1, 2003. I am also curious as to how the masses are going to receive it. Im pretty sure that some will be elated and some will not, but ya know you can't please everyone, especially when you have bills to pay.
The web site is being redone, members will be listed along with certifications. and web site links. National press releases will be in effect soon announcing local contractors , national and local board meetings are being planned. Regional classes etc are also coming and will be sponsored by the PWNA, A membership campaign is being designed along with a very cool contest with some very expensive prizes that are donated by PWNA distributors, 6-7 othe certification classes are being planned and will be offered regionally more than 2 time a year. The BBS is going strong, we are even doing an online live chat room soon. The member discount program is doing well, unfortunately I can';t get many distributors to go along with me. My company and one other actually give discounts to members,
The actual list goes on & on, but I am being purposely reluctant to make too many announcements till they actualy are going. So I guess patiente is a virtue .
Anyway, I gotto go eat dinner, I hope this little news update will help some.
Y'all have a great night and please try not to trash this fine organization, it may someday really help you and your business.
and like I said before It may not be for everybody.
Thank you Chris Detter/ President PWNA
