I’m going to ask?

Hi again everyone,

Yes there are lot's of great suggestions, these are suggestions that have been discussed over and over again. Most everything y'all have mentioned in this thead has been acted upon and and everyone of them is being put into action as we speak.

It just takes longer to get things done than I thought. Believe me I wish I was King and could make things happen at the snap of my finger, but I'm just the president. My job is to guide the organization to great heights, and impove on the member benifits and motivate other board members to get things done. I am working on all these things and will continue. My goal it to make the PWNA a well repected national organization that gives everything it can right back to its members.
Many of the things that the organization is putting into affect will come to pass, they will just take more time than most of us wish.
All the past presidents have worked very hard getting things done but unfortunately they don't receive any credit because they are gone before new things actually happen, but also remember that none of the past presidents care about personal recognition they just want the organization to grow.
If any of you remember the PWNA of 10 years ago you would choke.
The group insurance thing is something I have been trying get in place too, But we are not big enough, and insurance companies cannot cover all the united states because of individual insurance laws. Only Aflack is willing and we are talking to them. But there again they are only a supplemental plan.

The money, Where's it going? It costs a lot more to run an organization than even I thought. If I thought it was ethical to copy and paste the financials I would. The treasuer is Paul Horsley in Canada. He's the guy that wrote the article in the Cleaner times about washing Railroad trains, He's a super guy. The treasurer only approves each bill, and there are 3 people that actually pay all the bills so honesty is certainly not an issue.
Each monthly board meeting we go over the books and budget etc. everything is in good shape. No we are not making money but we are paying our bills. In fact we are still paying off some old conventions bills from years ago. We are definately a strong organization financially with plans to grow.
The $250.00 annual dues issue was just passed. We have been trying to get that thing lowered for years, well we finally did. I have been asked by the management company not to announce it for a week or so, as they have lots-o-stuff to do. prior to the official statement. The present board of directors have been fighting for sometime to get this through, Believe me I'd rather have 1000 members at less dollars than 300 at big dollars. The actual dues will be based on an graduated scale of the amount of annual revenue your company generates. It will not actually go into affect til Jan. 1, 2003. I am also curious as to how the masses are going to receive it. Im pretty sure that some will be elated and some will not, but ya know you can't please everyone, especially when you have bills to pay.
The web site is being redone, members will be listed along with certifications. and web site links. National press releases will be in effect soon announcing local contractors , national and local board meetings are being planned. Regional classes etc are also coming and will be sponsored by the PWNA, A membership campaign is being designed along with a very cool contest with some very expensive prizes that are donated by PWNA distributors, 6-7 othe certification classes are being planned and will be offered regionally more than 2 time a year. The BBS is going strong, we are even doing an online live chat room soon. The member discount program is doing well, unfortunately I can';t get many distributors to go along with me. My company and one other actually give discounts to members,
The actual list goes on & on, but I am being purposely reluctant to make too many announcements till they actualy are going. So I guess patiente is a virtue .
Anyway, I gotto go eat dinner, I hope this little news update will help some.
Y'all have a great night and please try not to trash this fine organization, it may someday really help you and your business.
and like I said before It may not be for everybody.
Thank you Chris Detter/ President PWNA

That’s really a neat thing Chris, lowering the dues. I guess everyone should hold off on joining then. Better prices next year and sounds like even better programs.

Chris so the health thing is being re-looked again. Is the regional membership thing being looked at too? I hope that they try to keep the regional areas smaller so we can have local things happen easier.

Are we going to have two conventions a year? I caught that you’re looking at the certification classes twice a year. Or was that more often than twice? And if we are not having a national convention twice a year where will Boot camps be hosted?

Chris your doing a wonderful Job and I appreciate you and Pete for working so hard to make things happen.

Thanks Chris.
So now we have more information. That is what we were looking for all along. When Ron started this posts about anteing up $250 to become a member people will be looking for information as to why they should join. Who wouldn't??

I was just trying to find a solution to get more of the SMALL TIME CONTRACTORS to become members because they are the one's who need to join for there own BENEFIT and also to the BENEFIT of the PWNA because of the large amount of those type of contractors NATION WIDE.

I think this turned out to be a 5 STAR posts because a ton of idea's and information came out of it even though I don't think Ron M. had that in mind when he started this thread.

I will continually support the PWNA with my membership and I will also try to find ways to get the RON P.'s, of the Powerwashing world to become members. But like Myself, Chris and others pointed out some people will never join because that is just the way they are which is the way of life. The LAW OF AVERAGES.

I know I am satisfied what CHRIS said. What about the rest of you?? He is sure doing the best that he can to make the PWNA a force to be reckoned with. Some of us like myself should help out more.

Ron:

I don't think this BBS is failing - if I understand its purpose correctly... And I might not.

What does the Board think this BBS is supposed to do?

If the BBS is supposed to help to educate people (both contractors and their clients), I think it has done a great job!

If the BBS is supposed to help and support PWNA members, then I think it is falling a bit short – but this can be corrected.

Chris well said, now a couple corrections here are in order.

Believe me I wish I was King and could make things happen at the snap of my finger, but I'm just the president.

The above is what you said, the truth is it is the Queen who has final say and gets things done, as you said you're just the president, a figure head.

Doubt me ask your WIFE, I bet she has final say in more things then you would admit.:D

The member discount program is doing well, unfortunately I can';t get many distributors to go along with me.

Again above is from your post, why is it none offer any sort of discount, in fact why is it they all want our business but won't even join the PWNA?

These businesses need to do two things, one join the PWNA since many members support them, and two offer discounts to the members whether it is a one time small order or a large repeat order and stop over charging on shipping charges. I think that is one of the biggest things people complain about, being ripped off on the shipping cost. I refer to all companies, not just a few of them.

Ron M.

Jon, you’re to funny buddy. You sound like the new ambassador of the PWNA. I knew you had positive thought and views in there someone where.

And you thought you knew me as a friend, see I have much inside of me I don't always bring out. New Ambassador, hardly.

Thanks for the input Chris .....................you really put some insight in this ... please next time dont waite so- long ..........LOL

forgive for rubbing "salt " into a wound ......
Ron said in a couple post back that to make it so no-body hires anybody unless they have a PWNA "label" ......

well well well ....... what happen to the Help the newbees?

educate 'em. How in the heck can you "educate" them with that kind of mentallity..............

MAybe what the PWNA needs is less people flapping there jaws with non-since like that .. all it's doing is hurting the org. and making like a KKK club.............. where ya gotta be a certain person with a label to work ....... this is the USA .... not China.

Guys and gals what does anyone have to gain by knocking something, anything, any group or organization that tries to better something?

I am not talking about a hate group or religious group but a business group?

How many belong to your local Chamber of Commerce yet never attend a meeting or even gain any business by being a member?

Your a member because by joining your part of the business world, right? I get maybe 3 calls a year though my Chamber and all three end up being homeowners who are price shopping yet I renew year after year, why because it shows a bit of legitimacy as a business, that is why.

In some respects the same applies to the PWNA, sure most companies do not know about it unless the member mentions it as a sales tool.

Sure it is probably one of the smallest of all business orgs and part of that reason is they are not widely known by most pressure washers, I am not talking about the low balling fly by nights now, I am talking about people like all of us here, the ones who are posting in this forum and those that post in oher forums and for whatever reason don't come into this one, perhaps they are not aware of what PWNA is or they have negative attitude towards it.

No I am not pushing it, NO I am not the Ambassador as Ron M. was kidding, no I am not a member, YES I was a member and what the future holds I do not know but what Chris said about a totally new price structure for joining sounds like they have heard the message and have come to say we shall change, we shall improve and we shall grow.

Give it a chance to show they are not the old from yesterday but are the new and improved.

I would love to say put your money where your mouth is but if I did that some would say yeah Jon what about you so I am not saying that but I am saying stop knocking them till you try them.

How many have heard the old saying as long as your working for a company never say a bad thing about them, quit and knock them all you want? So if you have not been a member stop knocking them.

I for one am getting tired of it.

Jon

Sometimes you tickle me Luckyboy, you fin'lly got hard of it did ya,lol.

Like I said I'm not for or againest a group, they all have their good and bad,it's up to each person as to how he wants to go.

The reason may be the reason why you don't see every many powerwash eqt. and suppliers of the trade joining. In time it'll cut into their sales as of saling less of,meaning some smaller eqt. and suppliers going out of business. In time the group can and will get reed of the part'timers the lowballers will always be here.

In time you want see no small time lawn mowers as they too will build a group pushing the little guy farther out the door.

Like Chris said "who cares"..

Until they learn how to market themselfs to the smaller contractor they'll always scream and hallower at them but then again have you thought some in the group may not want it to get bigger as in hurting them huh,all groups how them.

Can you name a group that has formed that hasn't cost us money on down the road..free trade has cost us.When you get up to go to work most likely your shoes are made in china, your coffee pot, pants, shirt, sockets, draws, look at the things that you have that is not USA and you wonder why I said I'm not for or againest a group......good and bad.

By using the net I now can get a subcontractor in your area if I'm wanting to get bigger, the bigger will get bigger and by joining a group it will be easier for them to do so.I have no problem with it b/c you'll never stop the big from getting bigger but I'll always stand by the littleman b/c the smaller business people are much more enjoyable.

I brought this back to the top, because we had some talk on this one with some officers to boot...
