Thanks for all the great advice guys...

Dave, I know exactly what you are talking about as far as storing chems...I don't live in the city limits and plus, I don't have any chemicals really besides Sodium Hydroxide beads that stay on my trailer. I do carry MSDS for them. The zoning in my area can be used for business and all that, so I'm good there if I decided to build an office.

Jon(ny 5-like that robot :)) great food for thought that you put forth. The only thing that bugs me about renting an office space as the fact that I would be renting. Renting sucks, I would rather buy, but I just don't know if that's an option right now....

With a storefront, I'm wondering if I could sell filters, grease containments, hinges all that kinda stuff that I already sell. I could get a piece of the pie even without having to do the work I think. Not that there would be a flood of restaurant owners coming in a mad rush to buy filters and such, but I think I could have a little display of each and HVAC guys that install this stuff, plumbers, maintenance guys those kinds of people would have somewhere to get that sort of thing locally.

Just thinking again, you'll have to excuse me :)

I have always had my office in my house. I took over one of the kids empty bedrooms in the basement. We have all of the office stuff in or close to the office separate telephone lines, computer, fax, copy machine, etc. Employees do not come here! I have always had my trucks, equipment and supplies stored in a separate building several blocks from the house.

Some of the upsides of the office in your house, there is a really short commute to work! :) For me it is 14 steps, well 20 counting to get from my living room chair. You can do paperwork anytime and in your pj’s if you want! And of course when its naptime :) , I think you folks get the picture. When you are on the north side of 60 you will do naps too. :)

Here is a picture of my suburban in front of my shop. The overhead door is 14x14 feet. We have about 2,000 sq. ft. in the building all insulated walls and roof with a concrete floor and 16 foot eves for $425/month.

Hello Nicole,

What part of Illinois are you from? My daughter lives in Aurora, Colorado also. She works for Mapquest.
