Help Please!

Get insured, first and foremost. The do whatever you can to gain the education and experience. Maybe ask a local company if you can work for them as an apprentice, gain the knowledge and experience that way.

Learn from the bashing, don't get discouraged. Do a search and research. There's plenty of information out there for the basics of this business.

Good luck to you.

I have done a bit of searching but i am unable to find the answer to one of my questions.... I have found that a good house wash mix is 12% SH and some Dawn Dish Detergent with water mixed.. and downstream that.. but as far as the wood deck goes nothing.. The wood is non painted non treated cypress for that cajun style soo i think a stripper would be too harsh? what is everyone elses opinion

There are plenty of wood professionals out there that might be interested in you learning from them so you can do a good job. You just have to call around, look in the right areas of the boards and give them a call.

If you are willing to learn, they will probably teach you. If you just want the answer handed to you on how to do something without learning the right way to do wood restoration then they probably will not waste their time.

There really is a lot of great info here and on the boards, you just have to spend some time looking and using that search button. Read slowly, not just skim over everything looking for the quick fix.

Anyone can buy a machine and say that they are in business, it takes some time, some practice, some learning from those in the business to get good at things before you should be working on someone else's property for money but always have insurance.

What kind of insurance did you end up getting?

Just my opinion.

soo I did my first job today.. single story townhouse hardy plank and some brick. The homeowner was very impressed and even offered a tip.. of course i politely declined. I downstreamed 6% regular bleach since it appears that its pretty hard to find 12.5% anywhere in louisiana i added some blue dawn. I want to know is there anyway i can make this mix stronger? also what would the addition of simple cherry do to the mix?

 I never turn down a tip. Heck I've gotten as much as $100.00 on at least 4 different occations and on average about $20.00-$40.00 in tips every week. Ya never gonna get to Fiji by turning away money. LOL...

Join PWNA (Power Washers of North America) and they will teach you everything you need to know Destin. You can reach them at (800) 393-7962. That house is semi technical because of the bannister rails and not a house that you should learn on. An experienced power washer would charge about 250 for a house that size and 325 at least if the bannister rails are part of the job. They are the hardest part because there are so many angles to hit. Prices vary on the economic area that you are in.

$250 for that? Maybe that why you are doing 3-4 houses a day and Im not! lol :D

My bid for that would easily be $550.

My price would be around $100 to $150.I dont charge any more for the banisters all the way around the house.I do them because I like to.I would use my pump up sprayer on that one.The downstreamer is just going to get you wet and not get the good mix up on the house.Chems I would get a couple of gallons of Jomax and mix to the instructions.

you are messed up!! haha:D:cool:

Larry can I come work there, tips every other day would be nice.
Nube, He offered monetary tip, or professional tip? either way I would have taken it and said thank you very much

Friday my first customer gave me a $5.00 tip and the second gave me a $15.00 tip. Heck they all add up. :) Whats funny is that lots of times it's the customers that were shocked at the initial price for the service, tried beating you down on the price, finally agreed to it and then give you a tip on top of it. I'll never understand people sometimes. LOL

Never turn down a tip... That insults the customer.

It all depends on what the market will bear. But then I have the power washing down. My system is remote controlled and that house would take a little over 2 hours max to clean. Rember Bella Terra clubhouse. You cleaned the roof and I cleaned the clubhouse and entrance in a little more than half a day.:D

the economy here is great... statistically Baton Rouge has grown more since Katrina and the Economy. The real estate market here is booming in the suburb i live in there is at least 25 new subdivisions being developed now. New schools being built and barely anyone losing jobs. Can anyone help me out with my question? I have searched but the info is sparse

People tip you when thay appreciate the job, TAKE THE TIP NEXT TIME!
(some people are insulted if you turn it down, its kind of like saying no thanks I hit a home run here today already, I dont need any more)

Thats my tip for the day!

I agree with you Russ....people work hard for their money,,,,if they offer you a tip it is an insult to turn it down.......
If they did not want you to have it they would not offer!!
Take the tip, thank them and then male the tip to me to make you feel better for not taking the tip!!

You need to find you a local chemical company (may have to drive 45 minutes to get to one if not one in your town) The simple cherry will make your house was mix smell like a drum of cool aide...lol leaves your job smelling better than straight bleach smell......works well also for giving you some suds!!!

SHC is affected by the temperature and Ultraviolet rays of the sun. Keep it cool and out of the sun or it will break down and trun back to sea water... Try to buy it where ever you can get the freshest batch.

I know everyone says it, and I have too. But I had a 20 gal clear tank on the back of my truck full of 12% shc, and it was still as good as new. I am not saying it doesnt break down, but didnt for me.
