More craziness with numbers:
Psychotic.
According to this study one approximately 363 million gallons of oil enter the coastal area waters each year.
According to this one 1 gallon of oil can contaminate 1 million gallons of water.
Here's how much water is in the entire Pacific ocean
Now if that is even remotely right that means the 363,000 billion gallons of coastal water is contaminated each year.
That's about 2% of the entire Pacific Ocean.
If all this was true shouldn't everything be dead in the white area below?
I'm not saying oil runoff isn't a problem. But I am saying we need to look at it honestly and find practical solutions that work while allowing us to live as human beings.
Just like the "no seal coat" in Austin. I wonder who instigated that study? Who stands to make money if something as simple, inexpensive and logical as occasional sealcoating is outlawed?
Asphalt companies who want to have to keep reinstalling asphalt?
Permeable pavement MFG's?
Follow the money.
