Caustic Thickeners for Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning-surfactant

What, do you have to scrape wet foam and not scrape shaving cream foam as much Lou ?

It;s not the foam I scrape...but the grease.

Longer dwell for first timers / asians / or PITA hoods.

God Lou, you KEC Professionals make it hard for a guy to eat in a restaurant anymore.
I BET you Greasers can tell us stories of the filth you clean in restaurants ?
I had a Rabid Female Raccoon come out of a chimney once, cleaning a steep roof.
She came right at me, I sprayed her azz with the mix, blinding her.
(dont carry my handgun up on roofs)
Off the roof she came, and my kid finally shot her. She was rabid, blind, and crazy, running into the houses full speed, getting them all bloody and stuff.

Well got to this and found myself up against the clock, so I'll be back. Still got equipment and complete wash out of kitchen/walk-in to do.

Got to get this joint ready for May 1 opening.

Wow Lou, that looks like a nasty place you had to clean.
I guess when old owners go out of business, they leave it filthy for the new guy ?
Restaurant Owners are notorius tightwads I hear ?

4oz per gallon or 1 cup per 5 gallons is a good start you can use less and get away with it. The delco stuff works well too and has a red tint so it's pretty.

Is this the same "BG" so many of the GP have been using? Because if I put one cup of what I use into a 5'er it would plug up the works. I use a lot less

Thats Bad Grease in Phoenix Arizona, hood cleaning is a good job to have with the 30,000 food places.

What if any results is anybody getting from using a thickener chemical in with their caustic, like that Bonzi stuff, which is pretty expensive. If you took some Bonzi, like 2 cups say, and mixed it into a hot caustic brew, would it thicken and stick on the grease. Like they say it does? That would cut out the extra step of the compressor and foamer, which are 2 extra things I would rather do without. After all the foamer is to make the chemical stick to the grease longer. If anyone uses Bonzi, inquiring minds would like to know.

I don't clean Hoods, but if I was trying to thicken my Caustic Mix, I would start with the Apple Butter from Pressure Washer Products. I was looking for an Alkaline Stable Thickener/Grease Cutter/Surfactant with superior viscosity enhancing properties compared to Ammonyx LO.
I found one, and PWP sells it. For something you can just mix in and thicken your mix up, it works very well.
Us roof cleaners are not as concerned with it's grease cutting properties as you Hood Cleaners, we are mainly looking for cling on a steep roof. But I would think any product like Apple Butter that will both thicken your mix up to the viscosity of a wet foam, and cut grease too, would be a welcome addition to your hood cleaning tool box ?

I like apple butter on toast. The legendary TGP Black Gold still works well for me.
What is IN the "legendary" Black Gold, care to tell us ?

Can not, it's not mine to share. :triniti: ....and THEY're watching:ignore:
Is this a commercial product ? If so, it must have an MSDS Sheet ? Or, if it is a home made concoction, and many home made concoctions work very well, what is in it ?
Just curious, because if it thickens better then Apple Butter, and is chlorine stable, my roof cleaners may want to know about it. I do know of better Alkaline Stable thickeners that will turn your mix almost to Mud Like consistency, and I know of things that will spray and stay like a liquid, until they hit a surface, then they will Gel. But I know of nothing as simple, and easy to use as Apple Butter (Myrastamine Oxide)
One to 2 gallons in 300 gallons of mix will give you a very sticky, wet foam, w/o any foamer!
All ya do is dump it in, stir if ya want,, or simply drive down the road. It us unlike Clay or poly acryllic thickeners that require considerable agitation, and ultimately clump in your tank. And, it is both a grease cutter and surfactant in it's own right.
