Average time to wash...

All 8 gpm

The reason I asked is because, in my experiences if the gum is dried and baked in I found it was removed faster when I cut the flow to about 6 gpm (using a smaller tip, this would work with my setup because I use a trapped pressure unloader) and have the thermostat to 205F to 220F (if it ever reaches that, I would say yes because this is the only time my burner would cut in and out, with full 8 gpm my burner never cuts off with ~60F inlet, I run 140psi 3.5 B tip in the 20" burner which is ~ 4.14gph diesel)

With 6 gpm I still have significant impact and ~ 200 F at the end of the hose. (remember the pressure losses with hose)

I use a 25 deg tip and 200ft of 1/2" hose.

But with gum that has some moisture content to it I use the full flow 8 gpm 25 deg tip, the thermostat stays in the same position but I dont believe it ever reaches the set temp, burner runs without cut off, hose is not as hot to the touch
 
Nigel I run a Landa SLT, i keep the thermastat low, if not the deisel will run out quick. It at about 210-245 but havent checked how hot it realy gets. I use all 8gpm but on a dual lance wand and control the pressure at the gun. Iknow what you mean about the lower flow/pressure. I dont ever use it full blast on gum. you gotta find the sweet spot on the gun. Does the 1/2" hose make a difference in cleaning speed?

It was well worth it when I went to 1/2", a big difference and noticeably faster at 8.5+. I would highly recommend it at 8 gpm or more. Just toughen up that first few weeks and you'll be used to it, then when you use a 3/8" it feels like spaghetti!



This difference is huge. Now that I have the 1/2" hose, my production is better than 50% improved, rinsing takes half the time and although I'm not jogging behind my spinner, I'm moving at a much better pace.

Just upgraded the 3/8" hose to 1/2" hose WOW!!!!!!!!!! What a difference.

After probably over an hour on the phone with Hydro Tek, researching friction loss and the expert advice those on this forum provided, I now have both the PSI and GPM at the business end. Retail cost of the 500" of 1/2" hose, plus the 2 jumper hoses, and all the new Hansen SS plugs and couplers was almost $1800.00. Not going to divulge exactly how much money I got the distributor to accept, but I will say I spent way less than $500.00.

With 300' of 3/8", I was getting 2500 PSI. Now with 250' of 1/2" on each reel, I'm getting 3350 PSI and almost 9 GPM. The Hydro Twisters are really light and now they're almost hovercrafts. And using the water broom on my 2 ANT3C is now like pushing a Lear jet.

Hannay claims that 300' of 1/2" would fit on the reels I have. I doubted it, thus the reason I went with 250'. Good thing, cause there is no way 300' of 1/2" would fit.

Jim, I recently went to 1/2" hose and it's a difference you can feel! It's the kind of thing where you can't go back. I definitely got an increase in the rinsing speed. I usually run 100' and less often add a second 100'.

That makes alot of sense now why im only seeing around 2200psi at the tip after 300ft of hose on an 8gpm machine. I have herd that it will loose 100psi for every 100 ft of hose however I ahve seen alot of difference from whats said. Thanks for posting this

I run 200' of 1/2" and then 50' of 3/8" on my 8gpm machine. The 3/8" makes it easier to work with without the large psi drop.

Nigel, You are sooooo right about this. we have been using 1/2 inch hoses sine 1993 ish. We have notice that the flow is easier on the pumps. For example, we was rebuilding our pumps every 3 years or so with the 3/8 hose at 200 ft. When we went to 1/2 inch line, we have not replaced or had any problems with the pumps. NOTHING for 10+ years.

I have been telling everyone here about the 1/2 inch and the benefits of having a 1/2 inch based on my experience, though I have not had the time to get the information in writing.

We just bought (4) 200 ft of R2 hose. My discounted price was $2,000. That was a great deal. Bought from Precision in LA, California. Quotes out here was going for 3k. NOTE that our hose is a high end hose. Most will not need this type of hose, and so the price will be allot less.

As far as coils, ANYTHING bigger than 1/2 is better if you are doing long runs and have over 5.4 GPM's. we have 3/4. went from 1/2. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!! Mountain bike vs a Harley type of difference.

Oh, and thanks for keeping me AWAKE yesterday while driving. I am getting tooooooo old to work 18 hours and then get only 3 hours of rest before going out for another 16 hours again. And I will not schedule a garage the week taxes are due. Just not going to happen !!!

Actually, I am late ..... I overslept today. That’s the good thing about being the boss…. You can do that once in awhile and blame it on the client or office work. HA HA HA. Got to go. Hopefully we will be 2/3 done today.

Average production time 88 to 120 and hour depending on logistics.

I only run one man Crews.... if they run below on average 19,500 a month in gross I'm upset.
