Apple Cider Recipe

I have not come upon a roof that I need anything more than the basics, SH, Water and some soap. It might need a little kick once in a while but I am not putting anything in there that can damage my roller pump, I won't even take the chance. 2.5 years and still kicking, the Bandit is still going strong.

+10 on the recipe. I believe in making it simple. I'm all about the liquid detergents. I've never used any powdered type of soaps in my mix. I don't like having to mix or the thought of clumping and clogging up my pumps and lines. I do add a boost of sodium hydroxide to jack it up a bit when needed and to help break the bond of certain stubborn mold spores but thats about it.

west palm beach roof cleaning

You guys eat this stuff up. Where do you get the time? It's so simple. You newbies want to make money? Cut out all the BS extra chemicals. Too costly! Cover plants with urathane, 50/50 mix saturate the roof, water plants sprinklers or dude on the ground when needed. Dude can clean tips while on the ground. Remove plastic and water again. Don't guarantee no plant damage but do your best to protect. avg roof expense 40 bucks at most. 200 dollar roof becomes 160 profit x 4 a day. That simple. 600 bucks a day now gett of this board and go get some work! Nothing but Love to all but stop with all this BS. You all sound like roof a cide pushers with the alcohol and TSP and Aagax, Borax and anything else you can't patent. Get real and go get em! Training is free in West palm for out of state companies. I'll take free workers all day. Call me! KISS KISS

whoops

I rented a small booth at our plantation rummage sale yesterday, and was talking to a potential customer about cleaning his roof. Naturally, I talk too much, and have been known to talk myself right out of a sale. I tell him my standard rate is $350 for a typical 3BR/2.5BA ranch.
He asks if he needs to be present for me to do the work. I say "No, you don't", and I ask about moving patio furniture, grills, whatever, explaining to him about runoff and such.
He then tells me he has gutters around the perimeter of his home (a rarity here) and my eyes light up and I say, "Great, that makes my job ten times easier!"
He then asks, "Well, why are you charging me standard rate?"
Uuhhh....whoops!

What is great is that you can learn from these boards and learn from what you do wrong also.

I would not use "standard rate" because it kind of limits you to what you can charge.

I really do not like giving prices over the phone but I would do something like this:

I tell them that $xxx.00 is the minimum but I would have to see the house but I do not charge for estimates and there are a lot of factors like if you have rain gutters, a lot of plants, things to move.....if you need me to move them or if you are going to, what the pitch is, etc......lots of things to look at but typically the ranges are from $xxx.00 to $xxx.00 but again, I would have to go out there and take a look.

I also add something like this: If you have concerns about someone bugging you into a purchase, you have nothing to worry about. I will go out there and measure the property and let you know what the price is, if you like it we will schedule the job, if not then that is ok, we are not used car salesmen that will keep bugging you until you purchase. I leave it at that.

I do not know if others out there have something better but that is what I do.

I will answer for Chris on this one , "Applesauce" aka Roof Mix has TSP and 20 mule team Borax soap. There is no need to add another soap to it.

I prefer to use a 60/40 mix 60% water 40% sodium hypochlorite 12.5 to 15%, I add 10 pounds of TSP per 100 gallons of mix, the TSP does a good enough job of being a decent surfactant for me without adding soap.

Also we dont rinse and we get immediate results and the ratios run about 10 gallons per 800 to 1000 square feet of surface.
The new Amonyx LO Surfactant is making ALL this irrevelant. http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5804545/description.html
It is totally chlorine stable, a liquid, and 100 times stronger then dawn, ajax, etc.
It improves cling, and dwell time dramatically. :thumbup2:
Just gotta be careful not to use TOO much ?
Start off with 1/3 gallon in 100 gallons of mix for shingle, up to 1/2 gallon per 100 gallons mix for tile roofs.
Just dump it in, stir, go clean. :clapping:
Much better then Dawn, cheaper too in the long run.
DON'T use too much  or play hell rinsing.
For steep roofs, go heavier, but be aware the roof will need rinsed to look it's best.
Gotta Go :eek:uttahere:
