$$$ Why Fleets $$$

Fleet Season is just starting for us. We get slammed in the Winter. We dont like to do fleets and we dont really market it, but somehow we always pick up new business. I dont even lower prices, I think my prices are kind of high actually. Anyway, it is that time of the year....mud and slush and dirty trucks.:(
 
I prefer spring and fall washing myself. I like the temps which allows me to work a little faster since the chemical and water doesn't dry so fast. I feel like I can get in a nice rhythm (which is important for me since I'm Norwegian and we aren't exactly known for having rhythm).
 
We don't get to wash much after december, When it gets to the point where the soap freezes on the trucks as soon as it hits them, it gets a little pointless to be out there.
 
Hey Randy, I thought you would be able to wash a lot more than us, being you're a little farther south of us. We wash until it gets around 15-20 degrees F, depending on sun and wind. The trucks don't look quite as good as they do in the summertime, but our customers understand and appreciate the effort. Some of our customers store their trucks inside so that works out pretty good as well.
 
Got a call from UPS today about their trucks. Kind of a drive for me -25 minutes each way. Curious what you guys are charging for that account? How many at each location? How often?

Interested in this "Classic Brown" - never heard of it. Anyone else? Where do you get it?

Hello Bryan. Are these delivery step vans? If it's a decent amount of them possibly around $8-10 dollars or so, depending on your hassle. If you can get more, GREAT! I feel that we don't get paid enough for the work we do already, why give it away?

I personally haven't tried the "brown" soaps. Do those that do like them? Is one brand better than another? What do they like about them? How do you feel they do on bugs, roadgrime, and tractor exhaust soot on trailers?
 
I had a UPS long haul driver talk to me the other day about day about washing their tractor trailer fleet atm they only allow their drivers to take their trucks to a truck wash once every 2 months, and once a month in the winter. He said they pay the truck wash $70 for the sleeper tractor and the 53' trailer, and if it was going to be on a bi monthly basis I am not sure if I could charge them less then that =/

As for the weather I kinda just put to point at where we do go out is when the soap freezes right away on a truck I find that to be around the low 20's. And last year we pretty much washed till the end of december, and not really at all in jan or feb then back to normal in march.
 
Hey Randy, it looks like the weather is cooperating for both of us this year as well, huh? I bet you loved that ice storm! I hope this means that it will be much warmer in January and February!!
 
I am not getting my hopes up about that. I am pretty bummed it decided to get so cold so fast here this year.

was without power about 16 hours between tues and weds.

I will be up in Minneapolis come monday for the MNF game with the bears and vikings though that should be fun.
 
That would be snow and we are getting even more as I type this too. But the nasty stuff was all the clear stuff everywhere all that ice. I imagine BioDude saw alot more snow then I did, though I would rather have the snow then the ice.
 
When I first started formulating the business plan, there was a section SOLELY for fleetwashing.

In the next 2-3 years, I will get into it and destroy the Houston market. And it will be beautiful. And people will cry because it will be THAT beautiful. lol
 
Why fleets? Because your not having to constantly chase work. I wish flatwork was a bigger thing here.
