Where did all the hood cleaners go?

Lou hoods&more

Guess I'm as guilty has the rest when it comes to not participating on this board.

Where have you been Lou?

Maybe the thought of sharing information was perceived as a business killer.

Little did they know the desire to shut out competition through regulations and the government was going to cripple the industry and leave nothing but a bunch of large lowball companies.

I'd be curious how many new millionaires have been created by weeding out the lowballers with regulations pushed by the orgs.

Have prices doubled?

Increased substantially?

Are you smaller contractors living in fat city now since it is getting harder and harder for ambitious entrepreneurs to enter the trade?

It's virtually impossible to legally clean a hood here in Las Vegas unless you are the employee of one company.

Viva free market!!!!!

There are still over 150 "companies" here in Southern California.

Out of those 150 companies I'm just curious as to how many actually are properly insured and trained to clean hoods.

I personally have no interest in cleaning hoods, no my specialty. That's why I just have everyone call you Grant or I call you directly if someone wants a hood cleaned that calls me.

Thank you Vince!
Yes, I too am curious. There is a lot of guys out there with no business license, no insurance (or the wrong insurance) and many with no training.

What has the training that is available accomplished?

Grant, you have been in business a long time.

Is it easier to make sales and keep customers now?

Has your bottom line increased?

Are fires on a dramatic decline?

I don't know, just looking for answers.

Really all of that? I was just saying where'd all the people go.

Sorry for the hijack Lou, I just would like to know what has happened over the past five years and what has been accomplished. Maybe some of them have gone out of business.

There's been a bit of natural selection I'm sure, and a fresh crop seems to be right behind, the cycle was really always there just seems be much faster.

Of all Cites Houston, maybe we Should Bring a Lawsuit against the City & Orgs for this.

They Made the statement they had been Citing KEC along with carpet Cleaners.

NOW a Tragedy 4 Firemen Dead 13 Injured and one lost a Leg.

Its time to start repairing the Damage done and maybe its time for the www.uamcc.org to get more involved with some reason as to why Cleaning Matters.

Who was the Company Grant? I know you guys all know who it was!!

I won't mention Names because its not Right until its confirmed Truth.

What Tony is saying is truthful, this has to change. Service Companies Whoring work for peanuts while they keep the loins share. Half the time the work not performed they keep all the money. Who Looses the Black eye and un importance of the customer to have the ability to know better than to hire the low ball Bid.

Someone here will pay, its a-shame lives have to be lost to fix the problem.

One of the firefighters killed today was a female, and became the second woman to die in the line of duty as a Houston firefighter.
At least six firefighters were injured battling the fire and were taken to the hospital.
The deaths today made the fire the deadliest in the history of the Houston Fire Department, The Associated Press reported.
"Houston firefighters mourn the loss of our three brothers and our sister and will forever honor their sacrifices," said Jeff Caynon, president of the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association. "This tragedy underscores the inherent dangers of our profession. Please keep Houston firefighters in your thoughts and prayers."
Caynon said the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters were monitoring the conditions of the six injured firefighters and would be assisting them and their families.
More than 100 units responded to the fire and 155 firefighters were on scene in teams, KTRK reported. Firefighters were shuttling in and out of the fire, battling not only the intense heat and smoke but a wind that would not quit.
KTRK reported that the blaze burned out of control into the afternoon, several firefighters were overcome by dehydration from the intense heat and the blistering 95-degree temperature.
Late this afternoon, the fire was finally brought under control, according to KTRK. The cause was not known.
ABC News' Ron Claiborne contributed to this report.

Lou, here is the breakdown. It all starts with a lie.

1. Small contractors are told the free market doesn't work and low ball hacks can only be eliminated by tougher regs.

2. Like sheep to the slaughter small, responsible contractors donate their hard earned money to orgs run by large operations with the promise that they will eventually be able to charge more.

3. Using your donations Large operations tailor the rules to their own benefit each year making it harder and harder for you to comply.

4. Eventually the only way you can work is to work for them. Either you end up subbing for them for pennies after you or your father have spent a lifetime building a real, responsible business, or, if you are real lucky you can take on a job stocking shelves at their warehouse.

Either way you are done for and another industry has been destroyed by a few.

I already knew all that .....I grew up in Detroit.

I've seen what a few can do.

The fire's cause hasn't been released in the Houston restaurant/motel fire. While the fire did start in the restaurant it is unknown (to the public) at this time exactly where.

Because the ATF took over the scene. There's a leak that a hole in duct was admitted in past inspection was not repaired in attic leaking on truss. The build up caused this to be and excel rating issue that cause the combustion .

Provided that's true where will liability falls?

I guess the guy that says we just shirt water might think twice, someone here could be prosecuted for these fatalities.

Grant you post every fire, I'm sorry but its just leading me to believe this was and Ikeca member. Or just out of respect for the loss of life?

I don't expect names I respect this is a serious problem for everyone if in fact negligence falls on the KEC pro.

Iowa July 19 & 20 free free text me for more details !!

I have no idea who, if anybody, was the KEC contractor for this place. I don't know if the fire was even remotely connected to the kitchen exhaust system. I know what I have read in the news, just like everyone else. The scenario you describe sounds like the Boston fire in August 2007. As far as I know, no facts like that have been expressed in relation to this fire.

Wow, sounds like a conspiracy!
Is this really your theory Tony?
