Tim Smith,
I received the materials that you sent, these templates will be extremely useful in our marketing program and i thank you very much for them. they wont be seen by anyone but myself and my customers.
i owe you one let me know if theres anything i can do for you.

Jon
the mailing lists you can get from doing a search for "Mailing list on the internet search engine.

i have found info usa lists to be not worth the money out of 600 names,100 came back the first mailing, and every mailing i get another 10 back undeliverable, out of the 600 original names i am down to 475.

we are actually compiling our own databases from the internet using special software that interacts with our contact management programs

these lists we generate in house have a higher delivery ratio and we can go from generation of list to our advertising medium printed cut postage paid and in the mail box 300 pieces within 20 minutes.

Anytime. I have a ton of Marketing material. If your ever doing a special project - give me a holler, I"ll be glad to help or send info.

The 4-Step Process page attach to a nice contract/estimate gets the customer everytime. Give them a newsletter at the first visit, that way, when you return with the estimate - the customer will accept your bid that is higher than everyone else -- because people will pay for Quality and a Professional. You already planted the seed in the customer's perception of you and your business.

We wear our "Worth" on our foreheads - If you think your worth a lot and your present yourself as being worth a lot - Society will treat as such. & pay you as such....

Ok, you guys want to hear my plans? LOL….. You guys know I’m a bit full of myself.

First, my marketing never stops; I always make a certain amount of phone calls each week. Mailers leave every week like clock work.

I have a news letter that we are trying to make monthly. Not there yet… we do get it out quarterly.

I do radio and it’s been good. It’s not going to work alone. You need a trademark like my guy that’s familiar. Recognition is a big part of marketing and showing the customer you are serious about what you do. (Talk radio or sports talk)

Do Photo demos and live demos. set goals on how many you’re going to do each week. (Then actually do them.) My company has done about 30,000 over the years.

I do so many things that it’s difficult to cover all. Some are with charities and other organizations. Shows such as hotel and restaurant are always good.

Keep in mind all my work is commercial and new construction.

My biggest advice that I can give is be consistent with what ever you do

Well, we are in 2005 - How did the marketing plans work-out?

I started my pressure washing business last year and did pretty well by word of mouth. I really could not advertise because i was a senior in highschool (the regular 8-3 schedule) and i felt that if i advertised, i might not be able to handle but 1-2 jobs/week. This year we have looked into radio advertising. We could basically take over a radio station for a weekend at $400/weekend. I believe this could have worked but i did not feel that I was ready to drive an hour and a half to do a bid that we did not get the job on. What we are doing this year is we are placing magnetic business cards throughout subdivisions. This seems to be a cost effective way to advertise (1,000 cards is going to cost about $80). We follow up with flyers and door to door advertising. Also another thing i am excited about is the fact that we have bought 100 yard signs to place around town i.e. intersections, etc. Has anyone tried this? Also we are looking into direct mail.

was wondering if anyone has done any of the home shows that come to local malls, universities etc....the last one i looked into was at the community college here on Long Island but came with a hefty price or so i thought for a booth.....i think it was around 1500-2500 if i am not mistaken, wasnt ready to spend that much without knowing what kind of return, all though they say the foot traffic would be in the tens of thousands.....any other ideas along these lines....???

Tim Hays and Tim Smith,

You've both mentioned your marketing that you did last year and I was wondering if you wanted to trade out ideas with me also. I've got quite a few different things that I use for my area and since were so far away from each other. I thought I would check with you and see if your interested in sharing off the list?

One of you mentioned:
we are actually compiling our own databases from the internet using special software that interacts with our contact management programs

I'm interested in hearing more about this program since I've been sending out a monthly newsletter to my clients for about 6 months now and I'd like to expand that out a bit for some other things I've been planning.

I'm also looking for examples of other marketing stuff and I figure that we may be able to give each other ideas that could be useful. Let me know what you think, I can be emailed at henryshousework@aol.com

I will share all day long.

Heres an idea for you: Word of mouth is powerful advertisement. The problem is the old 1 - 10 rule. If a person is very happy, they tell one person / If a person is unhappy, they tell ten people.

Why not take the "word of mouth" of the happy customers and tell 5000 people?

Get quotes from your customers - put them on a mailer and send them to a target market.

For example:::

Have you heard whats going through the Pressure Washing Grapevine?

"TIDALWAVE has awesome customer service" Pete Rose, Orlando Florida
"They made my deck look like new" Bo Jackson, Auburn Alabama
"TIDALWAVE has been providing quality services for my fast food chain for 5yrs" Ronald McDonald, French Fries, Missouri

You get the idea? I've done this in my home inspection, janitorial, and pressure washing business - it is powerful.

Especially in the commercial arena.

Look in the Yellow Pages under "Mailing List" or the internet.

has anyone tried a billboard sign? if so how has it worked for you and how much information can be placed on it?

By the way I am new to the business and have basically started from information obtained from this site. Thanks Everyone!!!
