What's the best foamage???

green pea to the boards ladies.........not to the business.......been in business for over 20 years.....not fly by night here

Sorry bout the first scary post hot shot

I like the chemical I use now, I use the flakes instead of the beads..........I don't know if its better to go with the beads though. According to some posts on here it looks like it might be.

I just want to find something a little different that works on chinese and foams up.

I will definitly be sticking around here.........I have seen some pretty cool ways you all do things. I like to keep up with the latest and greatest in technology. Anything to make my job easier.

The thing I like most though is most everyone on here has a sense of humor. I guess when your working through the night we all tend to get a little kooky. Makes it go by faster right?

So I need to post huh...........that how I might (if I'm lucky) get in the circle around here? Alright then

Thanks for the info Matt, I'll check that out. I'm not a real big zep fan anymore. Used them for years back in the day, then they kept jacking their prices, so I found something better.

What about not "out of the box" solution?

I'm a big fan of buying by the 55 gal drums and mixing my self.

I'm one of those trial and error guys.........you know, mix something up, watch it blow up, or melt down the bucket I'm mixing it in until I get it just right. Makes for an interesting day

Haven't heard anything about how far you can run the foamer lines from the foamer though....................lets hear it smart people!! How far can you run!?!

Sorry not interested in suggesting mixtures to anyone anymore, too many negative responses and it just invites more questions. Especially if you are interested in saving money. Find a local chemical guy and if he is worth his salt, he will work with you. Out of state shipping of chemicals is VERY expensive and can raise your costs 2/3$ per gallon so I stick with local distributers that give me free shipping.

understandable Matt, I don't blame you, I would probably do the same after trying to help someone out who just comes back whining.

I'll keep looking and testing.

I still would like to know how far you can push foam through a line though. Does everyone use a 5 gallon bucket? I like to drag only lines to the roof. Is it possible to leave the foamer on the trailer and just run a line on a reel still?

I think that foamit will only put about 100 feet of line on their FI-5 or Mean foamer 5. (same thing) I do know that 3/8 line don't work..gotta go bigger.

I only have 10 feet of hose from the bucket to the wand on mine. I have 150 feet of air hose though, from the compressor to the bucket.

You'll fit in well here if you have a sense of humor...hope you are legit. I love learning from people that have been in the business for 20+ years :)

I use the "mean foamer 5" FI5 and yes it is a pain hauling the foamer up on the roof but if I did not I would still be up on the roof of mcdonalds instead of posting this at 245 in the AM

I use the FI5 as well....I have 300 ft of airline and can take that bucket anywhere I need to.....except into Chinese Places....I just honk the horn and wave when I drive by......Yeah the bucket is a lil bit of a pain...but pump up sprayers SUCK!!!......I aint so smart so when these boys told me to put the chems in the bucket then add water after I was on the roof...I liked the FI5 a whole lot better. Welcome aboard Chad.

Anthony,
thanks for the info and the welcome, that's what I wanted to know. So it looks like I would be stuck using the bucket and a long air hose. I guess I will purchase one of those and see how it works (test run). What about the compressor then? Anything special as far as psi and cfm? I see they only require 40psi with 5-8 cfm. I'm thinking something movable so I can still use it in a high rise? How long does that bucket of chem last you? Let's say on your typical 12 ft s/s hood w/ a single motor (most everything is vertical ducts around here) grill and fryer grease.

Enviro........amen on the chinese..........I agree

Alexy............I hear ya. Isn't it a pain to bag thos McD hoods!

I started out back in the 80's blowing powder. I can't believe people actually still do that. The fire marshall would laugh in my face if he saw me doing that down here!

Just had my Chem guy stop by, he said that I can push the foam through 3/4 inch hose 250' with 120 psi, any thoughts on this guys/gals?

It sounds off to me-he might mean CFM-120 psi isn't much-I would think.

Thanks for the compressor info Anthony.

What happens when you have to go into a high rise and you can't drag your much needed air line? How do you get your chemical up in the hood then? Do you have a seperate portable?

I know I'm asking a bunch of questions here, if I plan to switch over, I will be making a rather large investment with 3 trucks and most likely having 2 foamers per truck. One to go up on the roof and one for down in the hood.

I run minimum two man crews with dual lines going to the roof and to the hood. Whole reasoning behind this is to have the roof man do the filters when done with the roof, so by the time the hood man is done drying and shining the roof guy is bringing in clean filters. Job's move much quicker that way for me.

Thanks again Anthony, ok...........big compressor on truck and lil' backup for high rises, that will work.

So what about the caustic beads and dawn dish soap.......does that really make it foam up just by adding dawn dish soap?? I thought you had to have a little bit thicker surfactant to make the foam?

OMG......you all are some funny MoFo's here. I was just searching around in here again and came across this post

I don't think I have ever laughed so hard, starting off with the foot foam pump then ending it all with the NLSCA squirrels, too funny!!!!

Anthony, I noticed you said that you heard this works. Better solution? care to share what surfactant you use? Looked at the Delco stuff......a bit on the pricey side, has anyone ever tried it?
