USM and Walmart

USM called me this week and wanted me to quote the sidewalks at a Walmart in Chicago....
Do you suppose that they have finalized the contract? Supposedly USM is taking over power washing, snowplowing and streetsweeping.
Anybody else get a call?

I did last year.

I like to know more about this deal.

I just didn't like the sound of it and they only gave me 3 days to get the bids in. They wanted me to break it down into little estimates on different time frames. I almost gathered that they were fishing for prices but maybe that was just me.

Let me know what you get worked out.

A friend of mine just recently reported to me that USM was being difficult to deal with and wasn't a top payer. They seem to be fishing for pricing.

Thats all it is, walmart doesnt sub in this situation. Sorry you guys waisted time. Who ever sent this lead is just helping them. They may not have known that at the time.

Ron,
What do you mean,"walmart doesn't sub in this situation..."?

I've been told by Walmart managers that USM is taking it over nationwide.

I am not sure, but in the past walmart did not allow subs for pressure washing. They could have changed their policy

Walmart knows whats up but they dont say it, thats like asking Sony not to let China build their parts for their electronics. Its an unspoken rule.

Walmart in my oponion wants one vendor to handle their work, the vendor in turn takes full responsibility for who they hire to complete the work. Basically walmart does not want to hear the words "its not my fault someone else did it" they only want to hear "We will take care of it". Its easier for them that way.

If they are a mang Co or Service provider then thats possible. They will not hire a contract provider to sub. Its agaist there corp quidelines.

Just for the sake of discussion, is there a way around it for someone like them to make it legal? In other words some wording they can use in there contract with a sub that actually will make the sub an employee?

you can only sign up for hvac, janitorial, landscaping, floor care, plumbing and roofing on the link provided. is there something im missing?:bash:
I was just sent the link thru a Freind. I will be following it up with my contacts in the morning.

Please keep all of us advised on what going on after you talk to your contacts. Thanks Ron
Ditto on that. Maybe we can get alot of us from PWI take on these accounts. That'll be cool. Let us know Ron when the Powerwashing link appears on there site.

I'm still not all that Sure that this is happening because I recently just signed a Deal for 20 locations.

Some other reputable Pressure washers are calling me and telling me different in there states.

Its will not hurt to sign up...

My understanding it that it covers all outside services, Lawncare, parking lot sweeping, pressure washing, HVAC, Lighting ect ect. The stores have the option of choosing who they want to do their service. Also USM will not cover all of U.S. there will be others seems like it was 4 or 5 total. Most will not happen until next year but any new or relocate stores are happening now. There was a relocated store in Knoxville last month that a local lawncare/sweeping and we picked up last month with USM. We got the store because the store mgr requested USM to have us to service them.
