Many folks forget the uniform is what we were to different functions. You would not wear the same uniform to estimate a project or attend a professional function as you would to work in the field, would you? This is what seperates the men from the boys. Thank You.
We use uniforms we've rented for a few years. I have a few silk....woohoo..
shirts like the blue one in the picture with my daughter. We also have Tshirts for dirty work and temp guys when we need them.
BUT...I've done sales calls in suits...dress shirts with logo....polo's with logo....silk casual shirts with logo...and the Uniform.
WITHOUT FAIL the uniform gets me to the right person many times more often than any of the other clothing.
I've tried everything. When you are wearing anything other than a uniform, they know you are a salesman right off the bat and you get the salesman treatment.
I now walk in, ask for the owner or maintenance supervisor, then look around as if I'm in a hurry. I don't chit chat with the receptionist. Most often they will get the owner because they think you are there to fix something.
After I've spoken to the owner on my way out I try to say something nice to the receptionist, because
after you've met your goal of speaking to the target, that is the time to make relationships.
I'm definately no expert, but I've been going into businesses and selling myself for 10 years now and this is what seems to work. By the way, it took me nine years to realize that.
