this thing is soooo cool!

what model comet pumps have you guys used? to be honest with you i dont remember seeing anything real negative on any of these post about comet diaphragm pumps, at least nothing negative with some facts to back it up. Russ here is a picture of the specs and model you can check it it out.
hey Guy Blackmon, what model comet diaphragm pump and how long did u use it. what were the main issues with the pump that you had. what kind of mix were you running through it? Did you do regular maintenance too it? same questions go for Doug Ruker. Doug do you have some good sources for not liking diapragm or just heresay? not trying to be a smarta** but like you said this pump did cost a couple of extra dollars and if someone said they had ten of them and they were all nightmares ill take it back tomorrow!!!! but until then........when im doing 3-5 houses a day 4 days a week... ill throw this one away on friday and have a new one on monday because thats how much i can get for roofs down here!

i know them airflows, electric, roller pumps are all great but look they are all disposable too at some point.

SWREST i havent forgotten about our phone call, just got tied up around x-mas :alcoholic:lol and id get that from ya but someone practically gave me 300 feet. but if this works as good as i know it will ill be needing 3 more of these in a few months but dont hold on to it on my account. sell it if u got it! and id still like to come up and see your setup one day when im in the area.

you forgot the pic and specs?

Good luck with that.......I tried them all too, The Bandit, Fatboys and they all led me to the Air pumps.....they kick ass, no down time messing with electrical issues, no gas, no issues with pumps and mechanics...just pure roof cleaning bliss.

ummmm dont you still need gas to run that mechanical air compressor or are you running a power cord to that mechanical air compressor from that 5000KW electro magnetic generator sitting in the back of the truck?

I've been using a roofster now for about 6 months and never had a problem with it. We have easily washed about around probably a thousand town house roofs and a couple of buildings with it. The best thing about it is I can go up 50' on a lift and still get it to shoot 45 feet or so. Nothing else i have tried has been able to do that. But I havent tried an air pump style yet and probably won't until I have problems. The delavan pumps were completly unreliable for the amount of cleaning we do.

I just preffer gas, pull a cord no battery and no hassle.

Yes, but nobody that said they had 10 of them. I just have talked to a few guy's in the roof cleaning business, but you can you clways find positives and negatives about anything, if you happy with yours GREAT. I'm not trying to dissuade you in any way.

Swerst you're the only roller pump i've heard mentioned, how do they spray and what kind of lift or height can you get out of them?

Tom, there have been several people and I mean more than a dozen that bought roller pumps that I know of that no longer use them due to failures. Some are just no longer using them period, some are back to 12v systems and others are now using air diaphram pumps but NONE that I know of still use roller pumps, even the guy that sold a ton of them off another board no longer sells them unless you specifically ask for one.

Our company cleaned over 200 roofs last year with shurflow 4gal min pumps. Always kept a spare on the rigs but never had to use them. They are only about $100 bucks to buy so I could care less if I had to replace them twice a year but we dont. I think its all about maintenence. Keep the pumps flushed after using them and they last all year. We buy new pumps every spring. Like Russ we are getting away from doing roofs.

I have a John Blue and couldn't be happier with the durability or performance. Like any other pump rinsing is an important part of maintenance. It doesn't put out the gpm other pumps do,but at 4gpm it is more than enough to do a roof quickly without flooding the ground below.Oh yeah and it will shoot 40ft

Hey Anthony Sewell, I don't have or would ever have anything with Comet on it, their reputation isn't that great. I run 12 volt pumps, and am not that happy with them, so I've done quite a bit of research on what the "Roof Pro's" are running. These are the guys that wash more roofs in a year than most of us do in 5 yrs. I've talked to them in person at the many Rt's I've been to, and on the phone. Most if not all of them are using, or switching over to the air diaphragm pumps. Mix? Maintenance? If you're asking if I know what I'm doing or what I'm talking about, then the answer is Yes.

Again, I wasn't putting down your new roof pump, I was relaying info from other Contractors that have used these type pumps.

Things to look out for, loose allen bolts around manifolds, manifold flanges will crack over time, because SH will degrade the plastic and will leak badly.

Good Luck!!

I have used the Allflo the only issue is they don't prime to well (2 different pumps) The Yamada is good except they tend to leak out of the studs when over pressurized (I only used they poly not the kynar. Bob at PT sells a Flow jet that seems to work the best so far. Its just not as strong as the 15gpm yamada. I like the udor zeta for the simple fact it can get up to 300psi great for shooting distance or pressurize it to get a good mist.
The only thing I like about the 12v is how quiet they are! That is a benefit when you bust a hole in the hose. With a gas motor running the ground guy cant always hear you yelling.
