The passing of Ted Watson-Rapid Hot Clean

I regret to inform the PWI community & fellow UAMCC members of the passing of Ted Watson, owner of Rapid Hot Clean

While some details remain what we do know is that on Sunday or Monday of last week he fell off a roof and was on life support until Thursday. Its unclear if he suffered a stroke or heart attack while on the roof. We do know he was not wearing a harness.

As some of you know a few months back he had fallen off a roof and broke a few ribs. Roof cleaning was his main part of his business.

I used to tell him all the time to stay on the ground and let his helper go up or strap up before going up on a roof. He loved going up there and doing it himself

Ted was probably my best friend in the industry. We spoke several times a week about anything and everything- Politics, worldwide issues, the Sopranos, the Ducks- you name it. His business acumen and work ethic were second to none. It was not uncommon for him to work alone for 14-16 hours a day- everyday if the work was there.

His love for PWI, the UAMCC and this industry was deep. He truly cared about guys in our industry and the progression of our industry.

He staunchly supported the causes to make our industry better

I will miss you Ted- RIP my friend

I'm very sorry Mike. My phone is always on if you need anything.

Packed House for Ted. Mike and I watched a Eulogy that confirmed the Ted we knew has been the exact same Ted his entire life. Lots of good memories and lots of good laughs.

If 1/4 this many people show up when I am gone I will be happy. Ted was loved.

Well, we drove from the top to the bottom of three states for the last few hours yet somehow we are still in Oregon. Lol.

Ted was extremely helpful with the Las Vegas event even though he couldn't make it there. His insight was invaluable during Shelly's campaign an I so looked forward to enlisting his help for wise answers to this endless line of public and union lobbyists she finds lined up in front of her door daily.

He didn't stand for any BS. While much more tactical in his approach than I am he never his his disdain for idiots and con artists. His wit set a trap for them they could rarely avoid.

Our time with Ted was a small portion of the Ted pie. It was a glimpse of a lifetime of achievement and various experiences.

Most of his family seemed to be amazed that he enjoyed the physical labor he did at the sunset of his life after a life of gained and lost fortunes in businesses that many would consider a much higher calling.

Yet Ted became one of us. He became our brother with not so much as any indication at all that his fortunes or experiences made him one inkling better than us.

A brother in the industry. This is what we lost in Ted.

I have lost a fellow soldier in the fight against those who align to take advantage of us.

Ted was a man of action, a practical joker, humorist, and a purveyor of wisdom. He will be missed. I can still hear his laugh in my head.

We need more like him.
