The Best Liquid Dishsoap For Roof Cleaning

I'm sure Chris will chime in sooner or later. As for the MSDS, I don't know what to look for to know one way or the other. It doesn't have a "safe with these chemicals" section or anything like that.

Hey Chris ... I got this wild idea in my head and was wondering if you could educate me on how to determine if a particular soap is 'SH Safe'.

Well Red ................ one way to do it is to find the actual ingredients from the MSDS Sheet, and then run each one of them on Google for Sodium Hypochlorite Compatibility.
Or, just ask me, since I have to know this chit, and have many many years experience researching this kind of stuff.
I "have to know" all about these things Red, because it is expected of me, as the head of the roof cleaning institute.

Not sure. I like Gain though. Just used some yesterday, because I was out of Roof Snot. It's cheap at Family Dollar.

Exactly! It always seems roof cleaners run out of the Roof Snot, just when they get Busy!
Even though Russ Johnson is a machine, and ships the Snot fast from a centrally located part of the US, there are times when we are out of the Roof Snot, and need something to get us by.
The Green Liquid Gain Ultra Dishsoap is as handy as your favorite store, to get you by!

Place your order for the Roof Snot with Russ, and until it comes, go get you some of the Liquid Gain Dishsoap, and go clean you some roofs.

Our roof cleaning season here in Tampa Florida is just starting, and many of us are absolutely slammed!
I hope all the many roof cleaners I have helped learn our profession up North, had a great season!

Please be aware that good surfactants help greatly when doing cold weather roof cleaning, by improving the dwell time of the roof cleaning chemicals!

The longer you can make the roof cleaning solution stick to the roof, the better it cleans.

Mix at what ratio? (i.e. per 55 gallon drum)

Well, for what, Roof Snot, or Liquid Gain Ultra Dishsoap ?
And, this will vary somewhat, depending on how steep the roof you are doing is.
Generally, the more you use, the stickier it gets, to a point.
We have dual 300 gallon tanks on all our roof cleaning trucks, and found that a gallon or 2 to 300 gallons makes a nice mix when using Roof Snot.

For the Liquid Gain Ultra Dishsoap, we use from 4 - 6 of the large 32 ounce bottles to 300 gallons of mix.

That answered my question, thanks Chris.

For me, 32 oz or Roof Snot per 50 gallons of mix, or about 1 oz of gain per gallon of mix.

For those of us normal people who make roof mix 50-100 gallons at a time. Lol

What's better - Dragon Grip or Green Wash? I'm new to the business and my Green Wash just came in this morning. Will be using it for the first time tomorrow but it was very expensive compared to Dragon Grip. Anyone have experiences with both and can elaborate on the pros and cons of each? Does Dragon Grip come with a scent masker? I washed my sister's roof last week without a scent masker and she said she could smell the bleach from the end of her 200 foot long driveway.

Please fill out your signature....

We have been using Roof Snot for a few years now and prefer it to any of the ones we have ever tried, including the two you mentioned. Some of these will come with a scent mask and some won't. For the ones that don't you can add a scent to it. Most any scent is going to wear off in a short amount of time though leaving you with the smell of the bleach. But the scents are nice sometimes for while you are spraying....
