Swine Flu prevention!

All the schools/pre-schools/daycares around here are sending out letter about the swine flu and disinfection and prevention methods.
I am going to check around with all preschools about disinfecting the playground area that the kids play on daily. Thought this would be a good idea that may at least help in prevention!
Thought I would share this thought and see what everyone else thought about it. I have contacted several already today and waiting to hear back from them.

That is a great idea!

Yeah its really too late....my 3 yr old woke up with fever and her throat hurting this morning also!!!

I am going to do the job....meeting the wife in monkey town and do the kid swap thing. Should be back in town by lunch,,,,,,,what, someone say lunch?

Ill give you a shout when I get done with the job,,,,it is just a house wash, drive way and brick wall around the drive........then we can get some lunch and maybe a milk shake for your lactose intolerant self.......Stacie will appreciate that!

I been doing daycare centers for about 2 years i have about 9 that i do bi weekly.all trikes, swings, slides and big toys, for a flat rate of $100 bucks a month, not much $$ for about 30 min. of work but it will fill up the truck and pw for the day.make sure the staff puts all toys in same gen. area so you wont waste time. it will cut down on kiddos getting sick. they call me and tell me how many less kids get sick all the time.they diddnt even know that a pw company could disinfect.just hit all playground equipment with hot water and low pressure then spray a dissinfectant with a pump up and your done.

People around our area are using a product called Max-Quat mixed 3 ounces to 5 gallons of water. Just spray it on and let it dry. It is an odorless broad spectrum sanitizer and disinfectant that is EPA registered.

Why dont you just downstream a lite solution of bleach and antibacterial soap on everything then low pressure rinse?

Larry is right on the mark - Quatrinary disinfectants are what hospitals and healthcare institutions use. Not very expensive to use and do not leave the same tell-tale markings that bleach does.

Great idea Richard about the playgrounds!

Larry, I was going to ask you on the phone but these questions will help others.

1. Can you downstream it from the container? I have a project that is a lot of area that I will be cleaning up bird droppings.

2. This is a child's play area blacktop with cover over it. If I spray it and let it dry, will it be safe for kids to play there?

3. I will be looking at sanitizing children's play equipment like swingsets, slides, toys, etc.... Can I spray it and they can play with the toys when it is dry or should they wait a day or longer?

Thanks Larry.

1. It needs to be applied at the concentration I mentioned. You can mix it in your rinse water and run it through your pump if you wish. You need not rinse.

2. Once it is dry it is completely safe. This product is used in Hospitals and Health Care Facilities. It can also be used in food service and food handling areas. It is often used to sanitize food hauling trailers.

3. Once the surface is dry it is completely safe.

THIS JUST IN:

Coleman returned from the Doctor with a confirmation that he does have "Swine flu"

Very sorry to hear about that Russ.

What did the doctor say about the medicines?

Do they have something that will get rid of it yet?

I will send some prayers your way.

If you need anything, just let me know.

I really like the idea of this product, I have a job next week cleaning up a lot of bird droppings, this product will be good for that. I just ordered a case, I will see how it works out.

It was easy, Tama-flu , musinex and fluids and rest.....return to school on Friday :clapping:

I hope that it is that easy. My 20 year old son is in New York, and got swine flu. He was down for two weeks. Of course, his apartment is right by the crosswalk sign for the high school where the prinicpal died.
