Sweeping Change for 2010

Tony Shelton

BS Detector, Esquire
I've reached the point where I can't continue on blaming self destruction on business related stress.:slap:

When Fayth was born I ballooned up to 313 lbs. :eek:ink: About two years later I couldn't take it anymore and after spending time with my brother in law who was the same age as me, but had the energy of a horse, I prayed to God for the help I needed.:shout:

I found that help in a diabetic diet. I went from this:

To this:

These pictures were taken about 6 months apart.

In the second picture I weighed 219.

I need to do this same thing again. I'm all the way back up to 283 lbs after gaining over 50 lbs in the past year and a half.

I plan to post my progress on here occasionally so you guys can either cheer me on or ridicule me as needed. This type of approach helped me quit smoking in 2001.

So, here's the starting point: Jan 1, 2010 = 283 lbs.

(PS, I know I'll drop a lot of water weight at first, don't remind me it's water weight, just let me enjoy it! :pleasantry:

I'm on the same path Tony.

I haven't weight today since I knew we would be doing the whole black eyed peas w/ham hocks, corn bread, rice and collard greens.I run the scale between 259 and 289 typically, but have set a goal of 60lbs minimum loss.
When Angela and I met 8yrs ago I was 187 7% body fat.It took 8 months back then for me to drop 107lbs to get to 187.

Congratulations Tony!

I got on the scale today, actually about 30 minutes ago and in the past few weeks I put back the 15 I lost earlier this year.

I will dig up that book and finish reading it and jump on a similar plan as soon as I finish reading that book.

Thanks for the motivation!

I will be cheering you on.

If y'all want to get in on the 2010 Weight Loss War let me know.
Cash prizes and bragging rights are up for grabs.

Wow! You guys have the hard part (will power) figured out. It's a struggle for me to drop 20lbs every other year. Get after it.

It is so hard to lose it and so easy to pack it on. I guess business is good for everyone because everyone is eating good :)

Same here. When my wife and I met in 2002 I weighed aprox 175lbs. I now weigh in at lean mean 230lbs. WOW! It's amazing how gaining 55lbs will change the way you feel. Clothes don't fit right, tired all the time etc... I lost about 13lbs a couple months ago when I came down with walking Pneumonia. I had lost my appetite and was only eating 1/3 of what I normally ate. Guess what happened once I felt better.

Good luck with the weight loss Tony. I'll be pulling for ya. I'm gonna try to do it myself. I'm tired of being overweight.

Scott Stone has committed to losing 30 lbs in two months. Anybody else? (Not you Matt Norman EAT SOMETHING!)

If we all jump on board by June we'll look like a crackhead convention instead of a roundtable of sumo wrestlers at the June Roundtable!

I made it through the first day. I'm following the menus in the Rosedale diet exactly for the first 28-56 days)

Today for breafast 8:30am - Nutola - homemade nuts - almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, mixed with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and a little melted butter, baked for 8 mins, with a handful of frozen blueberries (while still hot) topped with a little bit of heavy cream.

Snack 11:00am - homemade Tamari Almonds

Lunch 1:00pm - salmon salad with asparagus- This is a regular salad using salmon and asparagus leftovers from dinner last night for toppings. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.

Snack 3:00 pm - 2 celery sticks (yuck!) and almond butter)

Dinner 6:00 pm Baked talipia and green beans.

I've done these menus before and can assure you that if you try it, you won't die from it.:thumbup2:

The book is called The Rosedale Diet.

BTW- first day down 2 lbs. :clapping:

It was only water! :rotflmao1: Sorry Tony I couldn't resist.

LOL love it
Then we could all just stay in the same room....with blankets over the windows and a secret knock for anyone coming back into the room. :drag:

I'm with you Tony! Tomorrow I will weigh myself and will be starting a new diet as well. I weigh about 280 and need to lose some. I've been talking about it a lot but now I am going to put it in motion. Since I have turned 40 back in September, I now wear glasses, have to sleep with a CPAP machine, just finished chiropractor therapy. Man, do I feel old. Probably half of my problems will go away once I lose some weight. Good Luck to all of us fatboys out there!!!!

You mention chiropractor therapy, Without getting too personal, I have had some bad wrecks in the past and without going into details, how many disks were out of place, etc....I could never sleep good and could never find a good bed and have tried them all. If you can, go try the number bed from Select Comfort, they are the best in the world! It takes a week or so to get used to them but once you do, you get better rest in less time! I very highly recommend them!
