i have a 6x10 high side open trailer to mount this all to. before i get to the questions let me explain what i do know.

1) you should always plumb from the top of your storage tank.

question: how is this done? do you just drill out a hole fasten a grommet and stuff the hose in tank? the plumbing of all this is one of my biggest concerns can anyone post or send pm pics of how it looks?

2) larger hose means more product applied=less time on job= more $$.

question: the delavan has 1/2 inch fittings will i need to purchase reducers to accommodate 5/8 hose?

3) an average roof needs 40-50 gallons of product to be cleaned. product consist of 40/60 to 50/50 SH to water ratio with TSP added @ 1/2 to 1 cup per gallon.

question: since i will also be offering house washes and the product used to clean roofs is the same for houses how many jobs could i complete with 150 gallon tank without going to the shop and refilling?

4)the delavan power source is 12 vdc or 115 vac.

question: what does that mean? do i need to purchase a battery? is this a fixed unit i would prefer to mount it to my trailer? how waterproof is it?

5) tips should be 25 or 45 degree.

question: where do i get these?

6) after 200 ft. pressure begins to weaken.

question: is 200' of 5/8 hose the amount i should purchase? what about the hose from the tank to the pump? i have already purchased a cox hose reel from bob for my PW. what kind should i get for for 5/8 hose?

7) offering a demonstration (roofs) is a great marketing tool.

question: from what i understand you offer a customer a free roof cleaning in exchange you put a sign in they re yard for a week. some say to clean half of the most visible part of roof and complete the job in a week or so. is this correct?

there's more but gotta go.

THANKS

I would get two tanks and do the Apple Vari-flow system. Especially if you are going to wash houses too.

This way you can adjust your chemical strength down when you clean houses. Houses only need about 1-2% Sodium Hypochlorite or 10/90 20/80 SH to water mix. Using the same mix for roofs on houses is way overkill. Increases your chance for harming landscaping as well.

Here's the fittings you will need for your pump.

I would go with 200' of 3/4 inch hose. If you get 200' of 5/8, at least use 3/4 for the intake hose running from the tank. This will leave you room to upgrade if you decide to buy a second pump and run them together in tandem.

The Delavan 5.3gpm 60psi pump is 12V. You will need a good car battery. I have a pressure washer with an electric start running off it and a voltage regulater/rectifier to keep it charged.

If you want to clean houses with this set up you are going to need a way to rinse efficiently. The 12volt pumps are great for application, but they are limited to just that.

If he buys TWO tanks to implement the vari flow system, 1/2 inch feed on each will be fine.

The pump is "seeing" the combined diameter of both hoses, so 2 times 1/2 equals 1 inch.

My pumps are 15 GPM, and only need 1/2 inch feed.

Let's wait for him to answer, and see if he wants to do it right from the inception ?

thanks Mike
not enough space on my trailer for two tanks unfortunately.6x10
yea i plan on carrying a 5 gallon screw cap container. using the delavan to fill with "love" and further diluting with an x-jet m5 to apply to houses.

yea believe me I've read everything Chris has posted (along with others) on about 3 different bbs.

what is that fitting used for ?

3/4" inch it shall be. i hope the never kink brand has that size?

a full size car battery or like a motorcycle marine battery? is your unit fixed ? or portable?

i really appreciate it Mike the season is upon us have lots of work to do

Chris, do you use two pinch valves for the vari-flow system?

thanks Mike

You have enough room for two of the 150 gallon rectangular tanks.

I use a hand drum pump to transfer from my 55 gallon drum to 5 gallon containers. Pumping straight bleach through the delavan will wear it out too fast. If you decide to try downstreaming with a good chemical injector you probably won't want to use your x-jet anymore.

what is that fitting used for ? 1/2 male thread to your pump and 3/4 hose barb to attach to your hose. I'm not sure how Apple has his new vari-flow intake set up. Ask him.

Chris, do you use two pinch valves for the vari-flow system?
Yes Mike!
You need two because sometimes you have to pinch your water supply to allow for a higher mix of Chlorine to Water.

It's a GREAT set up, you can dial it right down for houses/screen rooms, and dial it up for dways/tile roofs!

There MIGHT be some other advantages that Tim Aselton and I are contemplating, and our FRIENDS will know!

How's your rig working out down there in Charlotte, J.P?

just spent an hour at home depot trying to figure out which fittings are required:mad: !!!?!!

I'm about to ask the official roof expert in his newly appointed area:D

will post pics tomorrow ..

thanks for asking Mike.

trying to find time to make it up there butt...
what about emailing me some pics?

COOL! I'm getting close to upgrading. Don't have the room for a decent chemical tank yet.
