Jon / Mtn Goat:
Appreciate the forthright ID of BIG JOB (not a typo - they seek the big JOB only), however our approach is different. JOB always seems to diminish - it is so in my area.
Ron M:
Do you really think those in our business really do not know who their competitors are, and that "don't buy from them" is an effective tool? Clearly you do. Your naivete is exceeded only by your naivete.
For those of us in grease exhaust services, I believe our fears are largely unfounded. Matt has a legitimate gripe, however they always seem to destroy themselves. Tyco (for example) has hundreds of businesses in over 100 countries with more than a quarter million employees. Corporate goals are not tied in to a profit from exhaust cleaning. Virtually anything you do or buy supports them in some way. You can expect something is amiss when BIG JOB sends 4 men and takes all night to do a $400 job - an account we aborted because our 2 men were taking 6 hours - not profitable enough for us. They really don't care - it is not their marketing thrust. Ultimately they dwindle and disappear - already happened in our area. The answer is to alter your marketing strategy and steadily keep on keeping on. It works.
