Smart Phones

I looked and didn't see anything real current on this (maybe I just missed it )

We use the property appraisers web sites and quickbooks online. I am curious to see how many use a smart phone? I think Orr does and I know Ron does.

What are you all using? What models and what are the pros and cons?

I also see the benefit to real time estimating here. I'd rather not bring my laptop out in the field.

The dash works really well, I like it a lot. If it were me I would get it and upgrade to windows mobile 6 instead of 5 that comes with it. Windows mobile 6 allows you to edit documents instead of just view them, which in my case is real important because I use excel for a lot of things.

I have the I Phone. You cant use third party apps on it yet, like quick books. Other than that I like it. Oh yea, It doesn't have a video camera or a flash on the camera yet either. I think they have the software in it, they just wont release it for the suspense factor.

I have a Blackberry Curve 9300. Had I waited a couple weeks, the 9310 would have been out. The 9310 has a MUCH better GPS. I have used my Blackberry for everything from accessing documents online to emailing, ordering supplies online to posting on the forums.:D I have been VERY happy with my Blackberry, and would buy another if mine were to need replaced.

My AT&T 8525 just died (ordered a new screen) so I "Upgraded" to a Tilt. Very nice. Built-in GPS for my mapping software (iGuidance). I added Spb Mobile Shell - it makes the Flip act like an iPhone. My Cast ($3.95/mo is an excellent weather/radar add-on.

So its looks like a toss up between the Dash and the Curve for me. I'll have to test them on the property appraisers web site this week.

What's Ron using??

Ah that "tilt" is the Dash, made by HTC

Maybe not exactly the Dash, but certainly a HTC phone.

We just switched to ATT over the weekend and I was so upset - I ordered the HTC Tilt and it was suppose to be free because it was refurbished, but then I get the email saying they are out of stock. So I went with the Blackjack 2. I was all excited about the tilt

For the first time in over a year, a major new BlackBerry model is being introduced.

It's called the "Bold" or the "9000." It features twice the screen resolution of the BlackBerry Curve. It also has a more memory and more Wi-Fi features.

Initially, AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier that will carry the Bold. The price of the Bold hasn't been announced.

Today I got the wing.
I have 14 days to decide if I like it or not.

So far it's pretty cool. I'm writtirg this on it now. (using the transcriber tool)
