Questions about STRIPING FROM SURFACE CLEANER. Driving me nuts

All of the above. I got a good deal on a Mosmatic surface cleaner a while back but it did not live up to the hype. Could not clean nearly as fast as my BE. Switching to 3 nozzles instead of 2 helped quite a bit and then switching to 40 degree nozzles helped even more. I'm not sure the 40 degree nozzles are going to do very well on really grimy concrete though, like Pat said. GPM is the most important factor though. Two 25 degree nozzles is about the best you can do with 4 GPM. Wish I could tell you that's not the case but I'm pretty sure it is.

I'm slightly confused. Your BE/Whirlaway is a 20" or 24"? If they make the 3 bar swivel for 20", I may just order that for my NorthStar housing!

It's 20". I thought you were using a 4 gpm pressure washer though. If so, a 3 nozzle bar will not help you much.

There is always going to be crud that comes out of the coils, it is just part of coils rusting slowly over time, sometimes when I pull the trigger there is junk that comes out of my coil and this has happened for over 10 years now on my Hotsy, it is what it is.

It does not do this more with 1 nozzle or 10 nozzles on the spray bar, it is just rust coming off of the coil of a hot water machine, the amount of nozzles don't affect it, it is just coincidence, nothing more.
 
I used my 12v pump with an adapter to the heater inlet and cycled the water back to the bucket with some dyna coil from Soap Warehouse. I won it 2 years ago at a convention.

I used Dyna Coil from Soap Warehouse that I won from Linda during a Pressure Washing Convention in Nashville. I used my 12v pump and cycled the water/dyna coil mix through the coils and back into the bucket.

Nice video George.

Check the pressure gauge at the pump if you have one installed there, sometimes the coil cleaning can weaken the pump packings, sometimes you get lucky.

From what I saw, it does not look too bad, I have had times where I had the ball valve open and a small stream of black stuff came out of the coil then cleared up.

Like you said mold is a PIA down here. Moved to south west Florida in 2010 from NJ. I was a carpenter in nj and never seen mold and mildew grow like this before. After 4 years of pressure washing my house I came to the conclusion this could be very profitable do here.

This is an old post Jerry but at what speed is the bar suppose to turn at and is it the same for all sizes of S/C

2) if the size of nozzles do not effect GPM and it is a fixed bar how dose one get the S/ C to spin faster?

3) have or how have you measured the speed of a bar? An adjustable timing light with a sheet of glass or ?

Sometimes you are not doing anything wrong. The stripes on the side are from the surface cleaner overlap. The sides get hit about 5x more (or even more) because when you are pushing your SC in a straight line the left and right sides of the surface cleaner get hit multiple times, while the top and bottom side only get a couple of swipes with your spinner bar.

You can diminish the lines by going the opposite direction the next time you clean it.

Having a really good degreaser will help.

Try this: Put 40 degree tips in your landa. As long as the concrete is not too terrible you can adjust your landa all the way up high, then lower it about 1/2 inch. Use an excellent degreaser and by using a softer and wider impact of spray to the concrete, you will leave less lines.

If your concrete is really dirty, do this:
Keep the 40 degree tips in. Use an excellent degreaser. Lower your Landa all the way down. Go SLOW. This will also help. You still might have to go in the opposite direction to diminish the lines even more. The more you go over it in different directions, the more the lines will fade and blend.

All in all, you should have less lines with 40 degree tips than 25 degree tips. 40's are fan tips and blend better at the edges. You'll be able to do more concrete with them too once you get the hang of it.

If you still have lines you can't get rid of, put your landa all the way down. Push your SC in a circular motion, but moving slowly from one side of the concrete to the other.

Dude....striping isnt from overlap..im shocked at how people never figure out how to not stripe concrete...Its all in how you move the cleaner. Heres a hint, engage that "sweet spot" (that is obviously cleaning perfectly) on all parts of surface. The appropriate way to do this so it is fast requires some physical effort.
