Not understanding pumps

I am looking into a new machine that is 7 GPM at 3000 psi. This a general pump belt drive unit. They say that a buffer tank will not work with this unit. They say that all pumps need at least 20 percent more feed than what the output is rated at or I would need at least 8.4 GPM. Just when you think you have learned about tanks, and pumps, out put and office size and fan degrees it puts me back at square 1. With 1"plumbing and 1" fill line from house, starting the job with 100 gals, and 1" to the pump why will this not work? Confused! Thanks.

It will work fine Randy. Split off the line coming to the pump and feed both sides of it, and you'll be golden.

All I can get is a b7035. Is splitting the line needed? Can I use a buffer pump? Does the split work as a T or a Y? New to buffer tanks. Just picked up the tank today used, 1.00 a gallon hope that was good, no leaks. Russ can I split the fill line, one to the tank and the other to the pump? Also will the flow to the pump be enough for the pump without overriding the flow from the tank? Will there be enough flow to the pump with no restriction on the tank fill other than a Hudson valve. Just trying to under stand this and " measure twice and cut once". Thanks.

Not needed, but advised. It'll make life easier on the pump.
Can I use a buffer pump?
No need to, it'll draw fine on its own.
Does the split work as a T or a Y?
Either. As long as you turn one line into two.
It's probably a TSF2021. They do 7 gpm @ 1,450 rpm.
Get one of these to turn your line into 2.

Put this in the plugged off port in the pump, and hook a piece of hose between them.

Thanks, still a bit fuzzy on this but I will be calling when I go to set this up. Starting with the tank or small stuff first . Then on the the big stuff. Thanks again.

Do like what Russ says and you will be fine.

The only problem you might have is the supply from a house, sometimes they are great, sometimes they are very slow, always check the faucet to see if it has a good flow so you don't have to shut down in the middle of a job to wait on water so you can start washing again. Commercial places are the same sometimes, always check.

If you start with a half full tank when you start, you should not have anything to worry about.

Russ can you post a pic of what you are talking about here? Are you saying two hoses feed the pump intake? I've only plumbed one to feed my General 8gpm pump and always wondered how people fed it with two hoses.

There are two ports on the pump on each side. There is usually a 3/8" plug(top) and a 1/2" thermal valve(bottom) on the one side and an unloader and out pressure and supply intake on the other. take the thermal valve out if you have one,(if you are bypassing back to tank you probably don't have one) and plug the hose in there. I think that's what he is saying.
There is a 3/8" out pressure and a 1/2" in on each side of the pump, its just one side has plugs in them that are removable.

That is a very clean setup for the supply side.

I have one of those blue bowl filters but larger and have the problem of it tilting over all the time and eventually it starts leaking.

I was told that the clear bowl needs to be upright but cannot find something to secure it, it is in the trailer with stuff put on it sometimes and that is part of the problem.

Chad, is your filter just sitting there or do you have it secured somehow so it will not tilt over?

Thanks.

If the pump is equipped with a TRV and you use that port for an additional intake, how would you incorporate the TRV into the setup?
