Nightmare for the Rookie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well it all started about three weeks ago----Being so proud to order my first machine. I have always thought it best to start small and grow tall. I would order a cold water machine at 4,000 PSI/4 GPM......I ordered a belt driven and got a direct-drive with a supply outletwhich would not work the way it was engineered. So I looked in the phone book for the authorized General Pump Repair house and loaded it in the SUV and took it over.....This was after I took digital pictures and E-Mailed it to the place where purchased, OH it will work----No, it will not according to the technical who looked at it. So they said we will air freight you a new pump assembly and you put it on....HUH ??? I said NO NO NO----Well finally they aggreed to send the new pump assembly to the tech and have him put it on---good idea. Send wrong turbo nozzle also in the shipment. Had to go back to the tech and get some fittings to operate the machine with the hose confiration I have. This is after about 20 phone calls to get everything all straight. Oh there was a difference in the direct drive machine and the belt driven one----they want to apply store credit and not my credit card. I could go on and on......Also the samples promised by them were about two weeks late as the UPS shipment got lost. The tech wants to charge me some $23.00 for the installation of the pump assembly---Yes, you guessed it, they are wanting me to pay it. If I did business like this I would be out on the street

Michael, I have been there and done that. If I were you once you get going and decide to upgrade on equipment I would try and find a local dealer. All that shipping and waiting on stuff is a real pain and not to mention the $$ your losing while without a machine. All the machines I use now are the same brand and there is a dealer in all 3 states that we do business. If you get in good with them and of course the more money you spend they will more than likely treat you right. Some are better than others, my dealer in NY has came out in the middle of the night to get me out of a bind. Just my opinion. Good luck and I hope everything works out.

And the name of the fine company you dealt with was??

Douglas Hicks
General Fire Equipment Co of Eastern Oregon, Inc

I'd like to know the company so I can stay away

I had a slight problem with a machine and after a few missed calls and a bit of an arguement. The owner of the company stepped in and when we all talked it was taken care of very fast and to my great satifaction. I was sent a whole new Hot 8gpm all shipping was taken care and they were going to pay my local mechanic to switch it out. $50 is what he charged I paid it, because the company stood right up and took care of it. In less than one week from the problem starting I had a NEW machine and was cleaning.

I own 4 of there machines

I have had nothign but god luck ordering online, except for E-spec. Theya re the only ones that gave me any kind of grief.
Another thing I tak einto account if I buy online, or catalog, is that I am the mechanic. I plan on taking care of all the waranty work beyond the first coupel of months. I realize that yours fell into the first couple of months, so that makes it kind of wierd. As for the store credit, there is a reason for that, and it is all for the stores benefit.
