New Work Truck

Ok this trailer thing is just not going to work on this Island. Parking is as available as it is in New York City. I will deffinatley be mounting everything on a work truck. I intially thought of a small box truck, I am now considering a utility truck with a 35' bucket lift. Does anyone use this type of setup? Would it be practicle? I think it might speed things up..what do you all think?

I use a trailer but also have a 95 ford F350 diesel box truck (12 ft box) that is great for city/urban jobs. I can only imagine what parking is like in PR so I am sure it is a bear. I think the bucket truck has merit but they are not cheap and the storage area on most I have seen is limited. Would be kind of neat to be able to run a line up the boom and use it to hit roofs fans and the ducts from the top.
The box truck works well and since it is seperate from the cab you don't get that funky diesel/kerosese, restaurant grease/ sodium hydroxide smell up front.

Funny thing is I can probably import/buy on ebay a used Lift truck cheaper than I could buy a plain bones box truck here in $$$$Puerto Rico$$$$.

So I think the lift truck might be cool, just want som more input from the greasers......Hey Alexy, if I found a van, I think I could have a partition ( Stink barrier) installed, there are some decent priced cargo van lift boom combos.....who knows...maybe FacilBryan will open shop down here and supply me with a new truck as a perk????

At times I think a lift would be good but if you look at your mix of stores and add up the ones that would be helpful and I would bet it would be less than 5%. Most accounts out west have an inside ladder system or some other way to service the AC units. The ones that would be helpful are the high pitch roofs and I will not service those units that have a potential of problems

There is no doubt that you can use a van with no problems for cleaning just that kowing the guys it is a matter of time before a bunch of water and a bucket of grease get left in the van on a hot day and smell up the truck. I thought really long and hard about going to a F-350 crew cab with a reading utility body on the back but Josh pointed out the actual area in the back was not that great and he was/is right So we went to the box trucks and love the room they offer to store stuff and they ride pretty nice.

I use my bucket truck all the time here and I also tow an 18ft trailer behind it. ITs an 89 ford Superduty 350 with a 7.3 liter Diesel engine thats a real work horse. Just cleaned a 3 story building with this bucket truck this past week and your right you can buy them cheap on ebay. Here's the place I bought mine from for $10,000 with a new paint job to match my company colors. http://www.buckettrucksusa.com/

Also you can see my bucket truck on my website @ www.cleancounty.com
Since you do hoods I don't know how important it is to have a bucket truck but either way I think there worth there weight in Gold. Oh yea another thing I have a generator on mine also which I used a few times in the past and since my truck is under 10,000lbs I can park it on my property which is one of the reasons I bought the 350 instead of the 450.

You'd be surprised how big the compartments are in this truck. The front compartment is almost as deep as the width of the truck. IF you wanted even more room then the Ford F-450 Superduty can supply that. IF it wasn't for my town restrictions of having no vehicle heavier then 10,000lbs stored on your property then I would have bought the 450..but then again I also keep my 24' box truck on my property and that ways 17,000lbs but my neighbors are getting a little miffed over seeing that truck going up and down my street all the time which is why I bought the trailer and I'm going to unload the box truck. To rent storage place here is a minimum of $300/month and that is just for the box truck so its going to go. I also like to keep my equipment close by because of all the thieves that rip off stuff from these rental yards. My pool buddy had two Powerwashers stolen out of his trailers in his rental yard and there aint no way to get reimbursed for that!!!

Yea here's a coupple. It has about 275,000 miles on the Cat Diesel Engine which is nothing for this type engine. IT also has the translucent top so the inside of the box is bright during the day. Also it has a heavy duty lift. I paid $10,000 for this truck last year and I had the brakes redone for an additional $2,000. I also had the stearing box changed since it blew out all the fluids and this cost another $1800. This truck runs great. The only problems it has is that one of my guys hit a tree branch with it that you can see the damage in one of these photos. Also one side of this truck has some Grafitti sprayed on it which I'm going to paint over since nothing can take it off. Also there is a panel on the side of the truck that we cut into so we can have access to the powerwasher pully that was right there...besides that this truck is great and I'm going to give it away on Ebay soon for probably much less then I paid for it....Also the truck has two brand new tires on it and the other two are like new.

looks like a really nice truck John. It's a whole lot bigger than what I need/want. I drove one just like that but different :)confused:) :D for 6 years at my last job, only it was a Freightliner. You definetly don't wanna waste any trips in and out of that monster. You would be tired in no time.....

Good luck on Ebay though....I still kinda wish that I would have bought your Grand National...that was a really nice car you had.

I've used a bucket in the past and am considering buying one.................luckly I have family that own cranes and bucket lifts.. My cousin will get me/us the hook up on bucket lifts.:)

Grand National.....those were awesome. Friend of mine at work had the Buick regal T-type, which was the Grand National but you could get them in met grey or white. They were the ultimate sleeper.
John if you are thinking about selling that box truck PM me before you list it on ebay I might be interested.

The Buick Grand national sold fast and off line and now its a new Bathroom in my house which made the wife real happy. Got to keep them happy once in awhile.

As for the Box truck I'll lets ya know when its going up for sale..probably in the next Month or two after I slow down here from Powerwashing.

Why would a hood cleaner want a bucket truck?

David...I think the main reason that Jason wants one is because of space on the island, which a van or box would suffice, but that 5 gallon foamer is really heavy if you have it full of chem and the bucket would be nice to take stuff up on the roof. There are ways to bring it up, like rope and and not filling up the chem until you're up on the roof, but it's just another option rather than trying to drag it up a ladder or taking a rope everytime.

Plus Jason has a fettish with being in enclosed areas, it reminds him of his days in the slammer. He met a guy named Bubba and has missed him since he has been out....at least that is what Russ told me.

I am thinking bucket because I can buy one and import it off of ebay cheaper than I could buy a nice small box or van here on the Island. I am going to ditch the trailer all together the streets are too small here!!! The tolls really swelll my member as well!!!! Parking sucks down here! The bucket idea just popped up when I was looking on ebay, but like Ant says lifting all your junk onto the roof with the bucket would be nice and hopefully prevent me from doing an Uncle Lou head plant. Might not hurt for doing Signs and Light bulb replacements too.

Ant, Russ was tellin stories again...he called me the other day sobining like a little girl because he misses bubba and Raul from when he was up state....I guess he will always use my name to feel a little better...that's what I get for partivcipating in the Adopt a Con program....
