Mosmatic Recovery Surface Cleaner with Gum Nozzle

That is the nozzle with about 10 jets which cost almost $500 by itself for just the nozzle.

The youtube video of the gumblaster has that nozzle in the tool.

There was a thread about that a while back.

It would be interesting to see that nozzle on the end of a wand to use with hot water popping gum.

Looked up the weights, did not consider that

vac 21" non gum nozzle ~39lbs

vac 21" gum nozzle model ~44lbs

vac 30" gum nozzle model ~59 lbs

Vac 30" non gum nozzle model ~52lbs


Comparing that to my current 30" commercial FL-CR 750 ~34lbs


Kory what size of vac you have connect to what size surface cleaner?
 
i have the hydrotek surface cleaner with out recovery. It has the gum nozzle and works fantastic. its at the exact right angle and i have never seen any concrete damage from it. The problem I can see right up front with the mosmatic is that you cant see what your shooting. you have to guess where the nozzle is pointing. that and what is it going to do when that gum sucked into the vacuum.
I also have a sirrocco vacuum surface cleaner and the gap between the deck and vacuum is extremely tight . The tiniest bits of debris start clogging it until it has to be taken apart and cleaned (which is easy to do but not something you normally think about until you dont have vacuum.) Im certain peices of gum will do the same but the idea is great.
 
Thanks for chiming in Jon, but the hydrotek gum nozzle does not capture as it blasts, it off to the side correct?

The other problem I see with the mosmatic, is if you dont break the gum up small enough (or melt it) you could have it sticking on the plastic ring(shown in the second photo, first post) or the brush skirt (that is an optional skirting).

I also think it may have been better to have the that gum chamber have its own vacuum port.
 
I saw that video a while back, wonder how big that blower is to utilize all those hoses for the surface cleaners.

That trailer is very nice!

It has all kinds of good recovery technology on it.

Hey Nigel I sold off the Swabby trailer a couple of yrs ago but it had a gum sucker attachment that you would put a vacuum hose to it.. I never used it.. The gum there seems to be no real good way to get it up except the old fashion way which is to use a 15-25degree tip on a light wand with hot water at about 3000 psi. If you go hot enough a 40 degree nozzle can be used and if you go really hot you can use a chemical tip(steam levels). But gum is a pain in the azz. If there is no fast method then you will be bogged down for a long time.. On the 3000psi with hot enough water the tip is over 6" from the concrete so there is not much marking cleaning difference after the surface machine was used.

To vacuum up every piece of gum one by one.. Just doesn't seem cost effective.

Also the surface machines like the Landa's with the wand attachments and the hydroteks with the front tips or whatever never seem to work the way you think after awhile unless your alone maybe doing a small job... But they still to me seem to be a waste. All of my surface machines any wand attachments was taken off.. Surface machines we use them for what they are..to clean mostly concrete. The wand is used for everything else.

We haven't found a faster way yet that's cost and time effective to do otherwise...IMHO.
 
Yeah Chris, I commented but they did not respond, TGP and Company sold quite a few units in Australia.

That unit in the garage scene one with ss drums, they made the switched from 23hp Briggs to Honda to drive the 4" blowers, they spec it at 475cfm at 15Hg


John, I here you on the gum ....there is a surface machine from JVL that gets it all in one pass, I wonder if anyone owns one in the US.

 
I believe there is a member here, a relatively new member that has one but they are out of the country and have that machine.

That machine looks cool, I wonder how much it would cost here if they would sell them here, I think that there is a market here for them.
 
I have a mosmatic deck it recovers nice and the swivel can't be beat. I like the gum nozzle but its tough to drop $500 on a nozzle so I stick with the regular 15 degree nozzle.

What I would like to see more of is the 4 sc's in tandem running behind the trailer. That's a serious blower to be able to handle that!

Jon, there is one video on youtube that has some good action of the gum nozzle, but cant remember the link, they actually had an injector prior to the "gum nozzle".

I was just embedding this video which had some good footage of the mosmatics in action, I have yet to see any other video of a mosmatic recovery 30" SC in action other than the one T George Podell has above. (mosmatic AG video has one but it is not being used with recovery port attached)

The blower running that 8ft wide tandem, has a 4" inlet i think,..... believe it or not........its setup at 475 cfm driven by 24hp honda (could do more, i think),...... Lonnie's blower now Matt's is capable of about 800 cfm.

Blower sizing and running, is a discipline that our industry is now spot lighting.


Its about resistance to air flow, there is virtually none,...... with 4 parallel sets of 2" vac lines...totaling probably 50 ft, at only 3.5 ft of lift requirement, and minimal exhaust back pressure, at only 16 gpm, it is possible

There is far less run off on asphalt than concrete, hence the setup application would work/looks to have very good pick up in the video.
