Montana vs the federal govt on Guns

Now if I could ONLY get My AMMO I Ordered Months ago LOL I got half my order in, but 45 cal is back ordered again. They won't get rid of guns, they are getting rid of AMMO instead it is easier to sell the brass to china instead of to ammo manufactures. This way no Gun Bans

Hey Tony---

Check this out--I was driving through Montana in late 99', the speed limits had just been added (75mph). I was somewhere between Billings and GreatFalls, at night, and got pulled over going about 95mph (not unsafe or anything, flat, straight, and hardly any ditch....drive straight into fields).

Lady cop comes up to the window, "did you know you were speeding, etc". Anyways, she says "For the first 10mph over, the fine is $20, $30 for the next 10mph, etc". Then she says "but you were in between the first two, so I'll just make it a $20 citation. Now, the state is so large and it is unrealistic to expect anyone to come to court, and one option we have is to pay on the spot."

So anyways, she writes me a ticket, gives me a receipt, I pay her $20, and I was on my way within about 10 minutes!

I thought that was pretty cool.....do the crime and get it over with right then and there.

Everywhere in MT is amazing. Even the flat Eastern parts. I think Missoula is probably the greatest mid-size city in the U.S.

Montana also can write you for speeding under "waste of natural resources" The purpose of 55 MPH was to save gas. If you were speeding it was not because you were unsafe it was because you were wasting gas.
They could write you a $10 dollar fine and be on your way.

Seems like a way to tell the feds to mind thier own buisness.

For many years on the open road the speed limit may have said 55 but it was still hard to get stopped for doing less than 70. MT did not want to lose federal $$ so they enforced it with a $5 fine. Feds could do nothing because they were enforcing the speed limit. That is how the "pay at the officer" system came about. Kept the courts free and nobody really minded paying 5 bucks. They still keep the courts free of simple speeding tickets because of this system and cheap fines. Although do not be an out of stater with no cash, you can actually be brought in to jail....It happened to me before I moved here, over a $27.00 dollar fine and I had no money on me and made the mistake of telling the officer i did not plan to be coming back. I had to call somebody to bring me $ at the jail.
