Here, I'm going to try to simplify this to a grade level that is easy to understand.
Dick and Jane make an agreement to trade crayons so they have different colors, but the same amount when they are done.
Jane says, "Cool, I like it, let's write this all down".
Meanwhile Dick is excited about trading crayons and also distracted by the Mustang matchbox car in his other hand.
So he gives Jane 5 crayons.
Jane knows he is distracted so she just sits there.
Dick gives her 5 more crayons.
Jane gives him one.
Dick, still distracted by the car and the dog licking his ear gives her 5 more.
Jane gives him two.
Dick gives her five more figuring they will settle up later because the deal said "they would have the same amount then they are done".
Jane gives him one again.
Dick finally gets a moment to concentrate and he says "Hey, you never held up your end of the bargain, where are my crayons?"
He now realizes Jane has given Jan all twenty of his crayons and only got 4.
So he says "Hey, that's not fair, we had an agreement and now you have 36 crayons and I only have 4"
Jane says "I don't want to play anymore. You didn't write it down anyway so none of the crayons count. And stop bullying me!!!!!!"
To make it worse Jane takes all her crayons and goes and tells all her friends that Dick is a liar and he can't be trusted because he lied about her not holding up her end of the bargain.
Lots of her friends throw rocks at Dick and call him a liar. All he can do is say "I didn't do anything wrong" as he looks at the four crayons left in his hand.
In the corner there is an intelligent little boy with the glasses who is simply saying "But, Jane, you have all the crayons".
I'm that little boy.
Kristopher and Micah, I will have to get my grandson Carlos to try to write it up if that's not simple enough for you.
