Don't get caught in Flashy clutter. No one is ready a Card with a man Golfing on the front, if a man is home getting the mail box he might be out of work so he has enough time around the house to wash it. If the women sees a card with a man Golfing she doesn't care. She wanted to see a women at a SPA getting papered.
The point is when you target audiences this way your one or the other. Make your card Unisex , economically appearing and Socially appealing.
Yes this mean Simple works.
Straight forward and Directly to the point. You only have a Few Minutes to capture there attention.
Keep this in Mind, run a proof or your card by strangers. Ask them to look at the card an tell you what the message was. Do not allow them to have the card in there hand for more than 10 seconds. If you card passes this test then you have won!!!!

Too many people fall in love with their design or another but fail to test it to see if it even will work to get the phone ringing which is the most important part, not how pretty the card is or if the person on the card is having a good time, relaxing, playing golf or whatever, if the message does not work then the rest will not matter at all.
