king ranch breaks again

Sorry to hear about that Russ.

I had the #4 injector tube blow out and spray the engine and engine compartment with Diesel last year. I had to have the trailer towed back into town, 75 miles back but I had AAA so they towed my truck to the Dodge Dealer and the injector tube was under warranty.

I am glad that it did not break further away from home.

That is the only major problem with the Cummins for the past 5 years thank goodness.

yeah but it was the 3rd Monday in a row that I have had to have it towed and the trailer as well

that sucks

That sucks Russ, that really sucks!

Maybe do like what Scott suggested and start a file.

Maybe also mention that you are posting your experiences in a nationally ranking bbs so people out there can see what you are going through as you travel for your business for the world to see. Not sure if that will help but when you point out your post here, it will get their attention and maybe something better will be done.

Russ, as much driving as you do I think Al Gore would love you if you switched to these. You could singlehandedly save the entire earth. If you had been driving one of these on Monday, there would have been no earthquake in Mexico.

This is why I got away from the diesels, every one I had stranded me one time or another. I had ford, chevy, dodge, all of them stranded me. I love the V10 4:30 gear Gasser Ford Superduty. If u can get into another truck Russ, take it from me and I have had alot of trucks, u will be very happy with this set up and the fuel milage is just a little worse than the diesel but not by much.

I've been wanting to get a diesel because of our bigger trailer and the fuel mileage I get. I test drove a 2006 dodge 2500 with the cummins and had my mechanic check it out and it had already had several problems. None with the motor but leaking suspension problems all over. I tow heavy compactors for Target and haul a 8000# trailer with my truck and it still runs like new. I guess I will be forced to wait until the Tundra diesel comes out. As for now Ill continue to get my 9mpg for towing.

Ford does the same thing Microsoft does. Beta test on its customers. They did it with the 7.3L and the 6.0L. Just when they get it right, they roll out a new product.

I have a friend who has the new 6.4L Ford Diesel and hasnt had a problem. But it passes everything but a fuel island.

My 04 w/ 6.0 had injectors replaced twice, two new turbos put in, and finally a refurb engine - all before it reached 50k.

7.3 diesel bucket truck blew a head gasket at 72k and was never the same again.

I'm back to gas again too. Got 12mpg with the diesel and 8 mpg with the gas.

The difference is about $10k over five years in gas consumption.

That's about the same as the difference between the price of a gas truck vs diesel.

After you take into consideration the goofy diesel prices when fuel goes up and the added maintenance items on the diesel I figure you have to put on more than 25k/ yr to make it worthwhile. We don't run that much in the trucks.

BTW Chris pulls a smaller PW trailer and gets a consistent 12 mpg with his 5.8l gas. I don't know how he does it.
