Impressive Craigslist ad

Lester, if you want to change your faith and jump from the good ship PSI, come on over to the no-pressure way and see the benefits that can be had.

Name some roofs you have done like 1500sq.ft, took 4.5 hours, had 3 guys on the job, etc....

Then some of us will chime in and let you know what it is on our side.

There are many ways to do the job, some are faster, some cost less, some are NO-Damage from NO Pressure, etc....

There are some very simple formulas (not the one you mentioned, you don't need some of that stuff) that will give you very good results that will last longer than the method you use.

Just let us know.

Chris, I've always said I was willing to jump, but I needed to see where I was landing first. I've tried a few recipies in small amounts and applied with a garden sprayer, ( because I didn't want to fire up the delavan for that amount) but didn't get the results I wanted even with two applications on minor stains.
But anyway, to answer your question... I use a two man crew, with two machines on most roofs so rinsing is generally under 2 hours.

3,200 sf = 32 gal of water, 11 cups of product @ $2.50 per cup = $27.50 in material
arrive at site 8am, off of roof by noon $480 contract, labor $8hr = 32.00 in labor
fuel for machines = 9.00
job cost $68.50
roof profit 411.50

extras on job were outside of gutters, deck and paver sidewalk and driveway

_______________________________________________________________________
another job of 2600 sf 4 hours total on job
9 cups product @ $2.50 22.50
labor 32.00
fuel 9.00
cost 63.50
contract 400 profit $336.50
and I understand that I didn't make 336.00 because of insurance, worker's comp, truck payment etc etc . I'm not making much this year, you know how that goes with a new company, I'll pay my box truck off this year and pay down the credit cards and maybe make some money next year.

Lester, you might be surprised to find that even without using the chemical and just using the pitchwitch it will clean just about the same. Using the S.P. or one of other 20 other products I have tried over the years, you will need some pressure to clean it right away or let it sit there until the next good hard rain and it works most of the time but most people do not want to wait for results.

Give it a try and use just the pitch witch and no chems, you will be surprised.

Now for the other side of the coin. It will cost you more for the no-pressure way, not sure of prices in your area and between 50-70 gallons of mix for the roof, you will be faster for the job to be done only one person up on the roof and one on the ground watering.

One pump running either gas or electric. Your profit will be less per roof but you can charge more because you are not using any pressure on their shingles or tiles and not even potentially damaging their property as per guidelines in the ARMA or GAF reports. It would be hard to sell against a guy that uses no pressure and shows the customer the reports in front of you and you are trying to explain how you do the job and why your method is not in the reports made by the makers of he shingles.

Something to think about.

You would have to get different equipment, hoses, tanks, etc.... to do it this way but when someone asks you if you are going to use a pressure washer up there you can point to your trailer and tell them that you do not have a pressure washer on your trailer, you only use a small chemical pump to apply the chemicals and it is less impact on their roof than a hard rain.

You just have to write your add in html code and you can pretty much make it however you want
Back to the Craigslist topic...Danny, if you could post another ad, that would be great. The link is old.

If we know nothing about HTML code, are we out of luck on creating a great Craigslist ad? If there's an easy way to explain it for us computer dummies, that would be great!

One more thing on Craigslist...how many of you use it to advertise, and get a ton of spam replies??

You can download a free Website editing program like coffeecup, create the page that you want, ( most programs are WYSIWYG and pretty straight forward )... After you have created and saved your page, view it's 'code' and copy & paste all of the code into the craigslist ad that you're making.

I am also wondering how much of biz does the craigslist bring average?
I've been always kinda skeptical about Craigslist. Is it a good idea to promote your professional and high level business in the same place where a escort service is promoted?

We have advertised on Craigslist, and had some success in doing so.

However, we have found that most of the responses we get from Craigslist are from people who are only shopping price and don't care about things like insurance and the such.

I have used Craigs List to sell a trailer but not to advertise my services.

I have always heard that you will get all kinds of junk calls, and spam emails from advertising there.

One day I might give it a try to see.

Thanks Terry, I actually have Coffeecup for my website design. I'll give it a try.

Yes, you get a lot of bogus spam emails, but you can easily tell them apart. I just delete them. I figure since it's free, it doesn't hurt to post an ad and get your name out there. I post in the "household services", and "skilled trade services".

This is exactly my point. Craigslist is more likely to advertise a mobile car detailing service rather than a serious corporate business, I think..

There was an ad on the Tampa bay area craigslist about a month ago that claimed they would clean any 1 story residential roof for $150.
They claimed to be licensed and insured.

This is the kind of ad that I usually find on Craigslist

How are those sites working out for you Lou?

Thanks Lou.

$49,575.00 in gross sales generated as a result of CL this year so far. So yes it works and not only price shoppers. Even if you only got $300 in sales from it.... Its free. ROI is good.

Give us a link to your ad. I want some of that action!

That is really good.

Are you running an ad for each service or one general ad per week?

Are you placing ads every day or just each week?

I would like to see a link to that ad, sounds really good.
