If you had a magic????

Ok, I have read all the posts on this thread. I have a question and then a suggestion. Question: Where does the money go? I mean I pay 250 to become a member, where does it go? Suggestion: Organize the people that sell the PW equipment, soap, etc. They can pay to have a booth at the seminars, which would in return pay for the cost of the seminar, then guys like me can afford to go to the seminars. Speakers weather or not they are paid for doesn't matter to me, as long as the information they are relating is relevant. I see the PWNA getting better, when they have the vendors active. I mean look at it this way. If there is recruitment of the vendors who sell the equipment, then you have an automatic recruiting tools all over the country. Look at companies like Delco, Hotsy, Hydro, etc. The only way I knew about the PWNA is by looking at the sticker on the PW machine I bought. Get the vendors involved, they have a vested intrest in this, the contractors. This is just an idea, but if it were happening, then I would join.

Joining the PWNA is a goal of mine for next season. Unfortunately, being an upstart this season, I just can't spend the money for a membership that MIGHT help me, but also might not at this stage in my companies development. I see the benefit in this type organization. To be fair, I am not as familiar with all of the features and benefits offered to contractors. But, I agree with a post earlier in this thread that making this organization a valuable asset for clients as well as contractors will do wonders for membership.
As far as the price goes. It seems high to me, but then again my budget is extremely tight right now and my opinion may change as my business grows and I have more funds available.
I made a suggestion to the previous PWNA President where they would offer free one year memberships on a lottery basis to only new contractors. By new, I mean one to two years in business. Accept applications and select one or more contractors from every state for a free membership. That way, contractors who would otherwise have passed on membership, would have the opportunity to see first hand how it benefits them. If I KNEW for certain that this membership would help my budding business, I would do whatever I had to in order to pay the dues every year. But, at this point there are just too many unknowns about the real vs. perceived benefit to my compnay right now.
Another suggestion is to work out discounts on everythig from chemicals to office supplies to new vehicles. And discounts do not have to be limited to business items. Travel and vacation deals would be great as well.
Just my 2 cents.
