I Need Your Input

Picked this box truck up last week. It's inside dimensions are roughly 12x8. Duel wheels on the back. This will be strictly a bare bones simple tight residential unit.

I would like to equip it with two 8 gpm cold water units, 325 gal water tank, two 50 gal chem tanks, 2 hp hose reels & 2 supply reels.

So I need some input from guys that run box trucks or enclosed trailers.

Best solution for floor covering would be first on my list.

Then plumbing tips.

Any help would be appreciated.

Guy, I have been running a box truck for 8 years now. Started with trailer and moved up. The best advice i can give is purchase a real good epoxy for the floor. I purchased a commercial truck bed epoxy kit that used a spray applicator hooked to the air compressor. I spent around $400. Mine held up real well for about five years then I had to reapply. I use two 330 gallon water totes up front of the box. I have my machine mounted on the left side and two 55 gallon drums of soap on the other side to balance. Box truck setup has worked well for me. I throw a electric heater in the back in the winter to keep things from freezing. Plus the side of the truck is a rolling billboard. I have people tell me all the time, they see my truck on the road.

What is the name of the kit you used, 5 years is all I would really expect out of any coating. I don't expect to keep the truck that long.

Yea the sides are for sure Bill Board material.

This truck has a receiver and 7 way so I could pull a trailer if I needed to.

Congratulations on a new truck, Guy ! The business must be good in NC...
I'm not sure if this photos of my truck will help you at all since you want cold water units inside , but it may give you some ideas....
The most important thing would be to evenly spread the weight inside and make sure you have a good ventilation. Also you can seal that access door from the cab.
Fumes and SH can be nasty inside....
I have my generator, reels and reclaim unit mounted under the bed and still have plenty of space inside.
Have fun with a new toy....CIMG0008.JPGtgtgtr.jpgyt5y.jpgythe5y.jpg

Where do you guys your mount hose reels so that you don't have to pull the hose down street and then back up to the customers house??? I have thought about a box truck as well, but would want a way to have the hose reels mounted on the passenger side of the truck. I am thinking some type of access door would need to be put in to do that.

Wow!!!

Your truck is really well thought out, I mean you have a hose mending setup and everything.

Nice layout!

Good observation Doug, but really having reels mounted on customer side only saves a "little time and is only a little convenient" and not worth cutting access doors. I'll be using electric reels like on my trailers. Backing in to a driveway is better than working from the road IMO. We're used to working off the back of our trailers.

I put bed liner on the floor of all my trucks. Most of them are steel decks, but I do have a couple of wood decks and it works great on them, as well. I like the hoses off the back. I think it makes my guys more efficient. I do put the pressure hoses curbside, so that they can stay out of traffic, which is a big concern for me.

See, we're use to working from the road, I guess it would just take getting use to. I had a covered trailer for a few months and remember that was one part I hated was stringing out 200 feet of hose. I had thought about the backing in to the driveway, but most jobs we are cleaning the driveway too, so that would mean pulling out of the driveway or backing up over the cleaned part.

I mounted my reals under the box on the passenger side ( facing the house ). 8' whip line to the real, chem injector outside right before the real. Water real outside also. Side ladder racks mounted on lower part of the box roughly chest height.

PIC?????????

I like it, bring it to Jerry's Place

Every Unit I have this is a MUST

OH wait I do not have any Units

The Blocks are a life saver as well, it keeps the tanks secure without leaking.

The extra Support rails on the machines are a must also, unless your mounting the new landa. they Stole that from me already.

Truly think about setting DI up, a small unit for rinsing windows. I know you do a lot of residential.

Guy, To Rons point about the fuel tanks. I am not sure if your truck is diesel or gas. Mine is diesel. I dropped the truck diesel tank and added a couple of fittings to draw and return diesel. My machine runs a Kubota Diesel engine. So i just fuel up the truck tank and engine and burner runs off that. If you truck is gas and your pressure washer engine is gas you could do the same. Then you would only have to carry deisel on the truck for the burner. In regards to the engine exhaust, I took mine to a muffler shop and had them make a custom pipe that goes thru the roof with a flapper on top. Remember you have to work around the garage door.. I wrappped my exhaust pipe in header tape just as a safety precaution.

Thats a nice truck Guy.

Home depot has these for like 25 dollars. had to order on line, so with shipping it was $35. I do not run my hot water much. for now I mostly use it to mix powdered chems. but when i have run it for ten minutes there is no effect on the roof. I realy didn't want to cut a hole in the roof but it went okay
