I have started two business that went belly up in the first year.

0 to 14 did a paper route
14 to 16 worked in a drug store picking up and stocking.
16 to 18 worked at McDonalds, dated the manager, I loved that job!
18 to 29 worked as a machine set-up, then as a machinist
29 to 32 worked as a sub for a cable contractor, made big bucks doing this about 3500.00 a week, with no over head. But it inly lasted for a couple of years after we put the fiber in, they did not need us.
32 to present Greaser

I did home repair, which residential does not like price. Tool sharpener, drill bits and counter sinks, equipment prices or repairs killed me. Both sank in a year.

First job, collecting batteries and tires from local creek for the "war" effort. I received red plastic like coins we could use to purchase 1 pound of white lard at the store. There was no butter. And yes there have been a few jobs since. PS my first car was a 34 ford cpe. I could retire if i had it now.

My fisrt job was washing Cats. But I hated it.

I owned a 18 wheeler and hauled shrimp we purchased in Texas from boats to packing houses in Miss., Ala., and Fla.. Gone from home for 6 months straight. Then I had a rolling seafood market (same 18 wheeler) with routes in Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, Kansas, etc, selling seafood from my truck in shopping center parking lots. Gone months at a time.Wife said find something else to do or else. I always liked my truck spottless as it was custom to the max so I tried cleaning them instead of driving them.

I started selling tie-dyed shirts at flea markets until an excessive dose of chlorine was added to the local public supply ruined 8 dozen shirts....kept the ones that didn't sell (about 60).

Started a home improvement/construction business with my father in 1993...still going today, with effortless sales at $2 mil plus.

Started pressure washing business in 2003 in conjuntion with the hi/c business. Inspired a ton by others on the internet forums...took good advice and running with it.

Web Design business: World GraphX(when it was cool to have things flashing and rotating on your website)

Retail Beer Distributor: Delcroft Beverage (in PA we have beer distributors). Partners with my father whom has since passed away and business was sold)

Sound Company: Mystery Sound Productions (ever hear the song "Let Me Clear My Throat" by DJ Kool? My company did the live sound recording on that :) )

Currently partner in four companies and soon to be a fifth.

I can never again work for someone else. Hopefully, God willing, I won't have to.

delivered newspapers in Alaska from 12 to 13. Busboy in California from 14 to 16. At one time worked 3 different jobs, restaurants, lawn mowing, changing tires, 98 hours a week, That all didn't last long. Got into the high tech industry in silicon valley in 1979 and that lasted for 27 years till I left this past April to try and do my own business. I was designing integrated circuits, chips, doing the graphics, and then later just customer support to help customers using the chip design software. It was paying over 100k per year when I left and they let me work from home but it was becoming a total rut. I feel better scrapping around and trying to get a business started, maybe it will be big someday. I want to make enough to pay new helpers at least $12 to $15 an hour and maybe the crew leads $20 an hour. I don't see how a mother and father working two jobs at $8 an hour can afford to live or raise a family around here.
